The backlash to AI is becoming significant. I wonder if those rejecting Google’s AI search are people who are afraid AI will damage their livelihoods, people who distrust thinking done for them, or both. DuckDuckGo is relatively niche. I’m guessing the spike is from a tech savvy audience.

I wonder if Uber is a canary. AI subsidies are ending. There’s not much of a paying consumer market; businesses are going to pay full sticker price for tokens. That, combined with the technical debt that AI can create — not knowing how anything works — won’t cause companies to stop using AI. It may cause them to take a more blended strategy rather than going all-in.

At this point, we’re just stating the obvious. It’s a solvable problem. But like cigarettes, solving social media is in opposition to massive profit incentives.

One of the things I find fascinating about John David Vance is he chose the name ‘JD,’ which of course is recollecting JD Ortiz. JD Ortiz was a serial killer convicted for killing four sex workers in Texas.

JD Vance: "One of the things I find fascinating about Pope Leo is he chose the name 'Leo XIV,' which of course is recollecting Leo XIII. Leo XIII was Pope during a time when incredible industrial transformation led to the rise of fascism and communism in Europe."
