This is genius Albert Einstein who refused to speak at white colleges and at the end of his life spoke exclusively at black universities
"The separation of races is not a disease of colored people but a disease of white people. I do not intend to be quiet about it.

@kallekn @AriaaJaeger *cancelling the boost*

@kallekn @HannaEsmeralda_ Thanks for pointing it out! Seems like she made part of it up on purpose just to get more shares.

Generating and spreading missinformations ... that's how it works.

@HannaEsmeralda_ @kallekn @AriaaJaeger I’m not sure why you’d cancel the boost but if you read the article the only difference between what she posted & the article is that Einstein actually wasn’t giving speeches to any universities but “In May 1946, Einstein defied the prevailing racial climate at the time to visit Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, the first degree-granting black college in the US.” Making it a very precedent act in his time.
@Jofish5000 @HannaEsmeralda_ @kallekn @AriaaJaeger I Lived in Lincoln University PA. Once visited the college and learned about Einstein’s- it was sointeresting at the time. Appreciate the extra context.

@AriaaJaeger Thank you, Ariaa, for sharing this beauty 👏🏽

One more reason to love him!

@AriaaJaeger Yet, his attitude toward his wife... not so good
@OldeHippi @AriaaJaeger same, while this is commendable behaviour i can't hear about albert einstein and not also remember how he was sort of a crap person in private life... i mean i suppose it makes sence, people are complex, but learning about mileva maric it brushed off me so wrong i'll never look at einstein the same way again 😣
@dangit @OldeHippi @AriaaJaeger same. All men in the picture. OK, those years... but the treat to her first wife and Mileva Marić wasn't loable. We are all complex, I guess

@dangit @AriaaJaeger

He should have given her credit! She was brilliant!!

@OldeHippi @AriaaJaeger Related: glad to see him working against racism. I wonder whether he noticed that he was speaking only to men? (Judging by the photo.)
The Roar of the Wronged: Aravind Adiga’s White Tiger, by Yahia Lababidi

After watching White Tiger, Yahia Lababidi contemplates the film alongside revolution in Egypt, Black Lives Matter protests, the film Parasite, and literary “complicated works of conscience.”

Albert Einstein, Civil Rights activist

Einstein’s response to the racism and segregation he found in Princeton was to cultivate relationships in the town’s African-American community. Jerome and Taylor interviewed members of that community who still remember the white-haired, disheveled figure of Einstein strolling through their streets, stopping to chat with the inhabitants, and handing out candy to local children.

Desantis: Ban teaching about Einstein!

@solownh @AriaaJaeger oh geesh, don’t give him any ideas!
@solownh @AriaaJaeger Desantis: ban relativity from our schools! Make Physics Great Again!
@AriaaJaeger
I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the illumination.
@AriaaJaeger
Well isn't that interesting. = )
@AriaaJaeger is there a source? would be happy to read something from a valuable source. there are many myths w.r.t. Einstein
@AriaaJaeger thank you for posting this! Your comment wasn’t 100% accurate but anyone curious enough would do the research to find out more! My absolute favorite is finding that around the 1920s Einstein’s private diaries would (in today’s time) label him as a xenophobe. Not only was he an intelligent physicist, but he was able to grow & gain an understanding of social injustices throughout his life. What a remarkable man.
@AriaaJaeger Blessed to have lived with such, now rare breed of, Brahmin people in India in my childhood till grown up age. Their mentoring is behind what i am today.
@AriaaJaeger Yup! Definitely a genius!!
@AriaaJaeger damit. I‘m really pissed of the universe that I never meet Einstein. What a great dude!
@AriaaJaeger das wusste ich noch nicht über Einstein. Toll
@AriaaJaeger Thank you for posting this info.
@AriaaJaeger - Not sure whether you know about this film. It likely helps explain some of Einstein’s thinking in making this decision (not the film itself, but the subject matter). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/From_Swastika_to_Jim_Crow

@AriaaJaeger : And on the other end of the spectrum, there is this German expat who also became a Civil Rights activist. Wernher Von Braun was seen as the only person the US Government had in Alabama who was popular enough to stand up to George Wallace.
@AriaaJaeger gosh, i only learned this today.
@AriaaJaeger Did not know this at all, wow😮🙏🏾
@AriaaJaeger can you help me find a citation for Einstein's refusal to speak at white colleges? I can find only that he had stopped accepting invitations to speak at universities bc of his health but chose to speak @ Lincoln to lead by example.
@AriaaJaeger #alt4you Einstein at blackboard in a classroom with young black men in suits.
@AriaaJaeger Interesting. Is there a source for that?
@AriaaJaeger Image describtion: Albert Einstein at a black university, standing next to the chalkboard, in the background some black students.

@AriaaJaeger Slight correction. The photo is of Einstein teaching at Lincoln University, an all-black college, in 1948.

He was offered a number of professorships across the country but turned them all down... except for Lincoln (where he taught as a visiting professor for one day.)

@AriaaJaeger
Thanks for sharing this.
I see I know very little about Albert Einstein.
And wonder how that came about.
Were his views on racism hidden by the press?
@AriaaJaeger Thank you for posting this. I did not know this about him!!
@AriaaJaeger I mean, Einstein was a Jewish guy born in Germany. The Nazis openly used U.S. racial segregation & repression as benchmarks and justifications for their genocidal policies. He knew it was all connected.

@AriaaJaeger This fact check is amazing! Learned so much!

@AriaaJaeger *looks at his wikipedia article*

"When Einstein offered to be a character witness for Du Bois, the judge decided to drop the case."

Didn't know Einstein was so damn based.

@AriaaJaeger
Best post of the day.
(I don’t say “toot” as it makes me giggle like a 12 year old, but then again, what doesn’t?)
@AriaaJaeger
Crazy! Totally new info, thanks
@AriaaJaeger Albert Einstein was woke. What are you gonna do about it, snowflake? 🤣
@AriaaJaeger So he fought racism with racism? Doesn't sound genius to me.
But i feel like this is non sense.
