Looking for a new job, or want to hire someone? Sick of the toxic culture on LinkedIn and other job boards? Want an alternative that integrates with Mastodon?

It's time to check out Flockingbird!

How it works is that Flockingbird (@flockingbird ) scans the Fediverse for posts with job-related posts (such as "jobs", "getfedihired", "vacancy", etc.)

Those job posts are then searchable on the Flockingbird website ( https://search.flockingbird.social/ ).

It's definitely worth checking out!

Hi, is there some way to prevent my profile to become part of that search index?

@flockingbird

#fediVerse #fediAsk #nobot

@jesuisatire @ajsadauskas @flockingbird

At least, it seem to not do a full text search but a hashtag search. So it would deliver the same results as a manual search i guess (assuming your own instance sees the as much as this search engine). Shall be fair then.

Edit: How #flockingbird seems to work:

Step 1: Searches/filters all posts it can see for certain hashtags as #vacancy, or #job: 👍

Step 2: User can then do a full text search within the prefiltered posts 👎

Not fair, IMO.

@baddadda

you see, it's because this profile blocked flockingbird.

I guess the post get's out without a handel reference.

@jesuisatire

interesting 🧐

logic but still surprising

@jesuisatire

Did they possibly block you? 😆

@baddadda

I told you, I blocked them.

So my profile doesn't recognise that profile as a handel.

On D* for example if you want to mention a profile by typing correctly you'll have to write:
@{[email protected]}
