Morning. On the Today programme (BBC Radio 4), the London Metropolitan Police are still saying “it’s a few bad apples” while admitting around 1,000 officers are being investigated for sexual assault. The UK government has decided to go for “men in skirts will invade women’s safe spaces” as a reason to block Scots self-ID legislation for trans folk. And nobody wants to discuss Nadim Zahwani’s failed attempt to avoid paying millions in tax which is not resulting in him being charged. Ugh.
@murphyslawyer
»A few bad apples« they say?
Well, yeah. That’s the problem;
it’s »one bad apple spoils the whole barrel.«

Men in skirts, Scotland, 🤔
The last one that cald it a skirt, got kilt.

@ospalh @murphyslawyer

And even if one didn't - A barrel with over a thousand bad apples is definitely wise to consider wholly spoilt. I feel like that's a classic case of fool me once, fool me twice, fool me one thousandth. Etc.

@murphyslawyer the Christian fundamental neo conservatives of merica have successfully infiltrated the feminist movement. Who would have thought anti abortionists and terfs would team up?
@murphyslawyer Wait... Scots... "men in skirts"... Are they TRYING to piss off men who wear kilts?
@murphyslawyer so, that’s what we’re going to do now? Have the US and the UK compete for which is going to hell faster?

@mrfrobozz @murphyslawyer spoiler alert, I think it's going to be the US.
Not that that will matter to those being dragged to hell in the UK. :(

We've got a similar trend gaining momentum here in Canada, too. My heart aches to see so many people who can't stomach the thought of other people being happy. And my heart aches for those who can't just live their lives in peace.

@murphyslawyer I forget who first said 'The bad apples give the other 10% of them a bad name.'.
@murphyslawyer Please explain to the Met and anyone else unfamiliar with the problems of storing fruit that the saying is "one bad apple rots the barrel". The whole point is that you have to eliminate the bad apples before everyone is corrupted.
@murphyslawyer A reminder to the London Metropolitan Police that the expression is "one bad apple spoils the barrel".
@murphyslawyer And here I thought Americans handled things badly. Which… they do. But still, sheesh.

Once revered for their impartiality, their present bias defies belief.

Now this Met rubbish & tax dodging.

Silence!

@murphyslawyer
If it’s a thousand officers, who are their enablers ?
@murphyslawyer It's time we all take long hard look at copaganda and how it feeds into shielding bad apples. Cops shouldn't be above the law and glorifying what they do enables that. If we had 1000 paramedics raping people something would be done. At this point not sure if cops or priests are less trustworthy.
