Morning. On the Today programme (BBC Radio 4), the London Metropolitan Police are still saying “it’s a few bad apples” while admitting around 1,000 officers are being investigated for sexual assault. The UK government has decided to go for “men in skirts will invade women’s safe spaces” as a reason to block Scots self-ID legislation for trans folk. And nobody wants to discuss Nadim Zahwani’s failed attempt to avoid paying millions in tax which is not resulting in him being charged. Ugh.

Robert Sheckley died on this day 17 years ago. He was a brilliant, witty writer, one of the finest short story writers of Science Fiction, an inspiration to Douglas Adams. His grave is near me and I clean the weeds off when I pass.
