Sometimes its worth being out in dark places...

This taken at a little free camping spot on Lake Forsyth, just south of Little River. Its a great spot for stargazing and birdwatching too.

That's as good as it gets.

@ewen Cheers Ewen! Can always do better! :)
@Rjdlandscapes This is truly a scene that needs to be described as awesome. You can see at least two galaxies.
@Rjdlandscapes *Unlike the more common Kiwi use of awesome as in when someone gives you your change.
@Rjdlandscapes Simply gorgeous! Thank you for sharing this.
@Rjdlandscapes That is awesome. Super sweet image and camping spot. Dang!
@mteeoh @Rjdlandscapes incredible! I very much miss dark skies full of stars

The magic of New Zealand will remain in my memories. I was there when Mt. Ruhapehu erupted. I flew from Rotorua to the top of Mt. Cook and then to Queenstown where people were jumping off the city bus with snow boards in July. Milford sound and crossing the alps on South Island was fantastic. I love thƩ Māori people and lasting culture.
@Rjdlandscapes Wow nice capture. Lucky southern hemisphere. What are those two clouds on the left side?
@pavi
Cheers Pavi, those are satellite galaxies, the Magellanic clouds
@Rjdlandscapes wow. I want to see this on a 20 foot wall- if I can’t get there in person.
