since character structure continues to be a point of struggle in designing my #ttrpg, i'm gonna try to get out of my own head by making characters in other games, starting with #Pathfinder2e

any other recs for games i could make characters for?

doesn't have to have the rules weight of #Pathfinder2e (in fact a variety would be nice) but it does need to be a #ttrpg where characters are defined by how they interact with the world, not how they function as a story element
@unboxedcereal 13th Age has a pretty unique character generation process that ties PCs to campaign world elements. Not a super big fan of this "Icon" mechanic, but still a pretty interesting proposal and worth a look.

@unboxedcereal
In the "pick-a-class" family, Shadow of the Demon Lord has really nice character building.

Staying in the rules-heavy category, you could have a look at a point-buy system like Shadowrun or Eclipse Phase.

A career system like Traveller or Warhammer could be nice too.

Maybe also try something with freeform traits like Macchiato Monsters or FATE?

@unboxedcereal If your goal is to get a broader perspective so you can kick loose whatever is stuck in your process, I would recommend taking a look at Lancer from Massif Press. Another one I can recommend is Star Wars Edge of the Empire.
@unboxedcereal Quest has some great ideas, especially if you mix classes.
