@Twigs Strong, slow-growing tree that's not so dense as to shade all the light from its inhabitants, maybe. 💚 I like that you identify as well as record the appearance of your specimens. Does paid job involve nature knowledge or is that just leisure?
@Twigs I'd walked the nature trails, where the ancient hawthorn hedge grows, for decades....it was the first time I'd ever seen hair ice. A few people I follow experienced hair ice at a similar time - weather must have been just right for it in Scotland that week
@WanabeSelkie I was near not far from where I was today when I saw mine too. In the woods it was probably the same time, I remember it was a bitterly cold day
@Twigs Thanks, good to know. Ours are still quite small, so I gotta prune them bonsai-like. An oversized bonsai, but still. Make them grow much old wood without becoming exceessive in overall size.
@Twigs Well, that’s a buffet on that little twig. And your photography skills are amazing too. I’m jealous of you European folks. Here in New York, it’s a little dry (or at least where I am) for us to such diverse greenery of the mosses and lichens. Enjoy finding and shooting them!
@plants parks and gardens are great places too, but I am blessed or not with the damp climate and beautiful countryside where I am. Check out those pavement cracks, it’s amazing what grows in them 😊
