This beauty is one of my favourite Grandfather oaks, and perfect for #ThickTrunkTuesday — he can be found at Folly Farm Centre, near Stowey in Somerset if you want to visit. I took this just after sunrise on a frosty January morning in 2020, before the world changed.

@lucycoatswriter Wow, what a beautiful photo! 😍
@SingingLehrerin Thank you! The light was amazing that day, coupled with the frost. I just use an iPhone 12, so guess I got lucky.
@lucycoatswriter Light, frost - and the sheep!☺️ Not to forget the majestic tree. 😍
@lucycoatswriter Brilliant picture, beautiful!
@lucycoatswriter Amazing photo with all the right elements. Well done!
@kwheaton Thank you—the gods of photography were definitely with me that day!
@lucycoatswriter Kind of the sheep to pose for it so nicely!
@platonista It was very obliging of them!
@lucycoatswriter Thank you for capturing this idyllic image. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in such a long time.
@dearabbie Aw! That’s absolutely made my day. Thank you so much.

@lucycoatswriter

Here is my tree picture. It is 10 years ago in Christchurch, New Zealand. Between their two major earthquakes which took down their cathedral.

I have no idea what kind of tree it is... That is me hugging that beautiful tree.

@Helderweb That is truly a magnificent giant! Thanks for sharing it.
@lucycoatswriter
The frosty morning air is punctuated with a dusky pink on the sheep and ancient oak.
@Jdcolahan Thank you! Yes, it’s subtle but definitely there. I love winter colours.
@lucycoatswriter beautiful subject and photo
@prpainter Thank you! Much appreciated.
@lucycoatswriter it’s probably seen plagues come and go in it’s lifetime
@MartinStoermer Yes, I guess it has. I estimate it’s about 400 years old (and maybe older), so it was probably there for The Great Plague in 1665/6. This is why I often wish I had Entish powers and could talk to trees!
@lucycoatswriter lovely picture and one of my favourite places to visit, introduced to me by my wife a few years ago
@lucycoatswriter Wow, what a great specimen. And the great photo of the said specimen!

@lucycoatswriter The world is always changing, but I get what you're saying...

It's part of why I like trees, they seem to handle the change much more sedately than we flesh folk. Great photo in any case, thanks for sharing... #ThickTrunkTuesday #TreesOfMastodon

@lucycoatswriter Lovely! Lifts the heart and grounds the feet just seeing the photo.
