A dream from 1923 about the year 2023.
@paulisci Remarkable. The only difference between that and today is that there hasn’t been that many strikes!
@jliska @paulisci or the strikes weren’t covered by the fifth column that used to be the fourth estate 🤔
@paulisci what paper was it printed on? Many strikes in the UK …
@paulisci $125 per 8hr work day = slightly more than $15/hr. Pretty darn accurate.
@jaymerryfield @paulisci thanks for doing the math! I was wondering what that translated to in modern payroll terms.
@paulisci as if there was a point to striking in 2023 :)
@paulisci
Is this guy still alive? I'd like to find out where he saw eggs that cheap.
@paulisci inflation is weirdly predictable, apparently
@paulisci I was in our neighborhood’s upscale market the other day and lettuce was $6/lb.
@paulisci I think they got the numbers the wrong way around. It should read "...living in the year 2023, and people were going on strike because they only got $10 a day, while the price of eggs had gone up to $125 a dozen."
@paulisci I hope my dreams never come true. 😬
@paulisci Right now, at the Target store by me, 1 doz. eggs are $6.19. A carton of 18 are $8.79.
@paulisci
That's $15.62 an hour. Pretty oracular considering what minimum wage would be if it kept up with inflation.
