OK, but what if I told you that anyone claiming that the #TwitterMigration was a fluke, and that #Mastodon is losing daily active users is just lying because they assume that the data to disprove their bullshit doesn't exist? I ask because the data does exists, and it's right here in this post.

The upshot of this dataviz is that, after a brief holiday break, the vast majority (>80%) of large and/or notable Mastodon accounts remain *very* active. A plurality have posted within the last 24 hrs.

The most typical ploy in #disinformation is to seek out a grain of out of context truth that aligns with a predetermined agenda and amplify it. From being on #mastodon from late November (on another instance) I could see the growth energy. The most ardent supporters of #democracy left first and stayed, and that those with other priorities tend to be more fickle.

@DataDrivenMD Thank you! I've recently unfollowed an account whom I equate to a chaos-agent, who constantly disparages mastadon and promotes negative ideas.
I honestly believed they are being paid to do so.

@DataDrivenMD The media narrative was that everyone was fleeing #Twitter and #Mastodon was the next big thing. But now the corporations have realized they can't easily cash in, the narrative has to be that Mastodon is failing. It's hazardous to everyone's profit if we admit that people really like having control over their own social media.

@DataDrivenMD This is only 1 user’s anecdotal evidence of growth &/or activity, but just a couple wks ago, there’d be 200-300 new posts to run thru when I opened Mastodon in the morning. This morning, there were over 2000.
