Im reluctant to add trying to pressure them to move to another platform when many feel like Twitter is the way they connect to the outside world.

As much as I want to just click the deactivate button, I've read warnings that doing so would leave my handle open to being hijacked by bad actors.

@SharonGibson3 @godpod of course I am a bit worried but I had to completely disconnect myself from that platform for the sake of my mental health and well being! It was too toxic! Plus, I would think they would need my password to take the account. Something they don’t have!

I have heard that if you want to keep the handle so it is not highjacked, you should set it to private and delete all of the content. There are websites that will delete the content for you, but I cannot say how safe they are.

So I've been taking my carte blanche to post ACTUAL truth (complete and utter LACK of censorship of the bad state actors and their disinformation) to the COVIDTwitterFiles hashtag (which is supposed to be full of the opposite narrative LOL), constant reminders of the disinformation campaigns of the past three years. I have JoinMastodon in my profile and my display name (which violates Elno's latest rules), still nothing.
They must have *really* stuffed it up, with my account, if they still can't kill it, despite me basically flipping off Elno every time I remember some lethal disinfo that went unchecked and I post about it.

Deactivated my account in Nov. Didn’t park account. Unconcerned about bad actors hijacking my handle because:
- *nothing* I can do will guarantee data/account safety from hackers/Musk anyway;
- not famous, used generic handle;
- I let ppl know I was leaving & where I was going in advance;
- don’t intend to go back;
- parking accounts only serves to artificially inflate Twitter’s user-base, helping Musk sell Twitter as popular to advertisers and investors.

While my TL does have more bs, I'm still seeing a lot people I like there & it's still the best place for notifications for local news and health. I still have notifications on. It's my author profile & I'm not risking it going to unsavory people to use.

I have some Telegram groups, Kyiv Independent & Pravda Garashenko, so most of what I see elsewhere is duplicated. I only look at a little analysis. Mostly straight news.

I guess for me reddit works because you can have long in depth serious conversations, with the ability to find just about any subject you can think of... not that it can't be just as superficial and reactive as anywhere else lol but its easier to find people that actually know something substantial. All a matter of personal style and preference of course 🙂

@zhuk @godpod @uanews I do like it for researching things, but usually don't have time for a long conversation, myself. For daily information, though, Reddit is not my first choice. Someone told me you won't have free time after 40, but I had no idea it would be this bad. Reddit is for special occasions.
