how many times am I going to have to prove I'm not a robot? I wonder if there's a way to automate it
@yaelwrites Perhaps we should have a robot do it for us 😁

@yaelwrites

all you need is a robot that passes the turing test 😂

@yaelwrites Periodically, I have to select all the crosswalks, traffic lights, or bicycles to submit my time card at work. I would def like to automate this cuz I think a machine might be better at this task than me.
@Artemis @yaelwrites I feel we should only worry when we get asked to click 'entry points into buildings' as it means the actual robots have solved getting around the city but now want to get into our homes.
@yaelwrites seems like it should be a 1Password feature

:chefskiss:

"Babe, wake up: new @yaelwrites post just dropped"

@yaelwrites Please confirm that you’re not a robot before I can reply.
@yaelwrites what leads you to believe that you are not a robot? More importantly, how would your life change if you discovered that you were indeed a robot?
@scerruti @yaelwrites and would you dream of robot sheep in your sleep?
@yaelwrites that’s exactly what a robot would say.
@yaelwrites HMMM. Automate it? I smell robot.😀
@yaelwrites "I will prove i am not a robot by proving that I COULD be a robot if I wanted!"
@yaelwrites NopeCHA extension for Chrome
@yaelwrites Believe it or not, there are actually browser addons for this.
@yaelwrites Wouldn't that defeat the point? lol
@yaelwrites I did too many captchas while watching blade runner and now I’m starting to think I might be a robot.
@yaelwrites I love that we are asked by robots to prove we aren’t robots
@yaelwrites
In addition, there is the question: How many times have I tried to prove I'm not a robot and failed? 🤭

@yaelwrites

I f%@#ing hate filling out those things!

The tiny photos in their tiny squares! Half the time I can’t be sure whether there is or isn’t a traffic light or a bicycle or a left-handed doo-hickey in the tiny square and there is no way to enlarge it. And is it only the lights themselves I need to care about or do I also have to click if there is a metal part that holds up the light, but which is an adjacent square? It does my head in.

Where do I sign up for the robot?

@yaelwrites
Always struck me as a kind of twisted reverse Turing test: a robot trying to determine whether you're a robot too…
@yaelwrites
I know it's a joke, BUT there's actually a Firefox addon that does that https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/buster-captcha-solver/
Buster: Captcha Solver for Humans – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-GB)

Download Buster: Captcha Solver for Humans for Firefox. Save time by asking Buster to solve CAPTCHAs for you.

@yaelwrites Scene from "The Simpsons' where a toy bird keeps pressing "Y" on a computer keyboard.
@yaelwrites There is, but it has affiliate link injection and no one wants that...
@yaelwrites the number of times I get it wrong is starting to give me a creeping suspicion...
@yaelwrites definitely, plenty of bots are made beat captchas
@yaelwrites I'm working on a robot to do it for me😉
I'll let you know when I've completed it if you like
@capnthommo can it press a button for 20 seconds for me?
@yaelwrites I've made a note. I'll see if I can't work that in.
@capnthommo can it press a button for 20 seconds for me?
@yaelwrites Laziness and self-doubt, the signs of a true human being.
@yaelwrites there actually is an extension that automates recaptcha, i forgot the name though
@lea can it press a button for 20 seconds for me?
@yaelwrites this is a double bluff, an AI bot wrote this
@yaelwrites Keep your security shield in place , I know how you feel 🙈
@yaelwrites
I almost spit out my coffee!
LOL!😂
@yaelwrites everytime a human clicks on the traffic light squares, the AI is fed data so it can learn how to distinguish them. We're all teaching computers how to be more human. Next step is either Skynet or Noonien-Soong :)

@yaelwrites Honestly I would do this if I was bored as heck.

Shoot, now I'm curious.

@yaelwrites How many of those times did you teach a robot how to pass as human?
@yaelwrites I particularly like how ChatGPT insists on me proving that I am a human.
@yaelwrites they should at least thank us for our service
@yaelwrites The sum of human time wasted on solving captchas must be surreal and yet ... the spammers and other threat actors have probably automated captcha-solving a long time ago.
@yaelwrites “we will always doubt your humanity” indispensable Blade Runner reference by @rubenbolling
@yaelwrites Srsly. We need automated CAPTCHA solvers. Should be simple.
@ErrataRob @yaelwrites it's a decade old now, but the talk DC949 did on breaking captcha is still one of my favorites. The audio captchas stayed broken until pretty recently because of how thoroughly they automated the solving of captchas.

@yaelwrites Right? I'm beginning to question if I really am a robot.
@yaelwrites this is exactly what a robot would say
@yaelwrites It's robot discrimination, that's what it is. There should at least be a checkbox for 'I am a robot' as well.
@yaelwrites my supermarket has an horrible website and sometimes it asks if I'm a robot a couple a time per hour when it's grocery ordering day
@yaelwrites that would make you a robot ;-;
@yaelwrites You risk turning into a robot anytime, that’s why other machines on the internet are checking for it, it’s just about sending you a welcome to the club card… but only when you become one of them.
@yaelwrites
Soon it will be a logical impossibility. Enjoy while it lasts.
@yaelwrites Also, don't anthropomorphize computers: they hate it.

@yaelwrites

-Do the robot !
-I can't !
