@stammy,

Nice post!

BTW -- what's your underlying blog platform? Homegrown, Ghost, or something else?

@kidehen it's based on jekyll, hosted on netlify, media on cloudfront, with all custom design/markup/etc. More info here: https://paulstamatiou.com/about-this-website/

@stammy this is a super comprehensive post, excellent work, and thank you! I will be using it to share with family and friends wanting to know about Mastodon, and the Fediverse, as it does a much better job than I would. 🙈
@stammy This is so good. Thanks for writing 🙌
@stammy I can't wait to read it - it's been a hot minute since you posted something on your site - that I can remember.
@computerninja wrote about 2 months ago about design craft and product quality: https://twitter.com/Stammy/status/1592163039754657793 Might post more in 2023

“Much of my design career has led to me caring about product quality. But what is quality, what affects it and why is it so hard to achieve? I wrote 5,000 words on craft and why I moved to a 10-person startup after 10 years at large companies: 🆕 https://t.co/xwd94eMyez”

@stammy Great post... I took your advice and found a few Mastodon friends and changed my Twitter profile to reflect my Mastodon username.

@stammy Great post! I appreciate the insights about the APIs coming from someone who has seen it from the inside-out. Also captures a lot of what I have been thinking and feeling about "big tech" running the show on all fronts.

No notes-- just great work. 😋

@stammy it would be great to see the fediverse and Mastodon adopt something like Tim Berners-Lee’s PODS (personal online data store) to give users back more control of their data. I’m by far not a tech but it would seem to fit in well with the open and decentralized fediverse model.
@stammy Very impressive post, Stammy! 👏

@stammy You may find that https://github.com/lartsch/FediAct#installation

Solves your 'interacting with other servers' problem quite nicely.

GitHub - Lartsch/FediAct: Chrome/Firefox extension that simplifies interactions on other Mastodon instances than your own.

@stammy Wow, that was a really thorough piece. Thanks for writing it.

@stammy If you don't mind my asking – is FeedBin still your RSS reader of choice?

I've returned to Inoreader but would need to pay a much higher monthly fee to get newsletter support, and it's not unlimited.

@stammy Good read. I want to get your perspective on my instance locally storing your post and the resultant legal reqs on admin of my instance. Wouldn't it be better if only a caption & metadata are stored and req me to download the rest directly from your server.
@stammy Great Post Stammy! First I saw it in my rss-Reader. Subscribed since Georgia Tech days!
@stammy I love that you’re writing more regularly again, Paul ✨
@rafa thanks! I was spending the last like 2-3 years of free time on Stocketa app but I kinda want to put that on pause. 🙈 No great APIs for the financial data I need so it ended up being nothing but hacks/scraping/multiple providers on the backend and never felt solid
@stammy oh no! Does that mean stocketa isn't going to be released anytime soon?
@stammy @pawel I have similar experience like you. On TT I limited myself to my list. Here I create my timeline more friendly with people who have something to say.
@stammy Thanks for writing. This confirmed most of the knowledge I’ve picked up over the last month or two, and it was useful for that. But I learned a few new things too!
@stammy Great post! Bookmarked to share with people who ask about Mastodon in the future 💪 Also, I love the read-progress-meter on your page.
@stammy learned a lot from this!
