Another point about both the attack in #Brazil and the US on January 6th that is literally, obviously true, but that no elected official in this country would dare to say, let alone follow through on. Thank you Lula
Credit where due, Castro is correct and the Biden admin should move swiftly to take Bolsonary into custody and extradite him. But again, bear in mind the context: this just happened in our own country and the man who organized it is not just free but running to be president again. Something tells me Lula is going to handle this a bit differently
@socol imagine how much better off we'd be right now if our own government took J6 as seriously as the Brazillians are taking this. Instead almost everyone got let off the hook with a stern finger-wagging and was turned loose to regroup and try again in a few years.
@socol look, to you need to understand that in the US we don't have the strong legal institutions and long tradition of democratic governance that they have in Brazil

@socol

Good for Castro. He's 100% in the right in this one. Take Bolsonaro into custody.

@socol I’ve been thinking of the US as a loose amalgamation of Rogue States for a while now. This’ll be an obvious yardstick for just how accurate that assessment may be.
@socol No #politician or #journalist are safe anywhere in the #world. In #Canada, we has our own version of #January6, almost a year ago. Of course it was the #"freedom" convoy. The only difference is that no one stormed #Parliament in #Ottawa. They just #honked all night, #harassed residence, #descreated 2 important monuments, waved their #Nazi flags, and #hijacked the #Canadian and U.S. #economy. The #RCMP in #Alberta also discovered some illegal guns from a few of the #protesters blocking the #border.
@socol in fact, it's striking that US elected officials used the occasion to double down on the licking of the police's boots
