Can you imagine if pro-lifers focused on lowering the cost of life-saving insulin?
@rbreich but that'll take effort and will provide a good service for american citizens that will undermine the companies that price gouge money and lobby republicans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@rbreich "Does x keep women out of the work force?" Yes? It's a cherished GOP value! No? It's unAmerican and ungoldy.
@rbreich That's not how it works, once you're out of the womb, you'll have to pull yourself up by your bootstraps, i'm pretty sure in the eyes of the GOP, babies being breastfed are getting a handout and should buy their own formula from one of their big corp donors.
@rbreich It is easy to say you are pro life whole creating pro death conditions... Far too easy.

@rbreich

But, that wouldn't stomp down on anyone ...

@rbreich Republicans have been in power for nearly a week. They have accomplished literally nothing. They cannot even pick a Speaker. This is going to be a long, but deserved 2 years. America STILL hasn’t learned our lesson for re-electing these people. My state just elected Sarah Sanders as our next governor! She doesn’t take office until next week but has already promised to destroy our education system. Can you imagine? … Not teaching slavery history in Arkansas? … or the Little Rock 9?
@rbreich pro-life is someone who doesn't want to hurt others.
They wear masks when possible and try to avoid spreading sars2
@rbreich democrats aren't very good EITHER at wanting to avoid being the cause of someone else's preventable death
@rbreich you mean Forced Birth Extremists?
@rbreich or healthcare in general. Or firearm deaths. Or police reform. Or childcare. Or homelessness. Or… or…
@rbreich the reverse. I have listened to pro-lifers ranting that insulin should be banned because of supposed fetal stem cells way way back in the research for creating lab-grown insulin. It’s a madhouse.
@rbreich If they were really pro-life, they would but seeing as they’re actually forced-birth, not so much.
@rbreich What you’re pointing out is that they are decidedly not pro-life, just pro-birth.
@rbreich Aw, come on, now. That would be entirely too sensible and altruistic.
@rbreich
Ain't so PRO-LIFE, are they?
Actually, they NEVER were...
not unless it's their OWN life.
@rbreich Lower the price of insulin? Can't do that. Think of the poor shareholders.
@rbreich Or feeding schoolchildren, or reinstituting the Federal Assault Weapons Ban?
@rbreich Thankfully Senator Warnock did this for seniors.
@rbreich
Nope. Because most don’t actually give a crap about that either. It’s a convenient flag for them to waive and nothing more. Otherwise you’d have childcare, healthcare, a living wage, and so on. Once the unborn are born it’s not their problem…
@rbreich Or getting the COVID vax?
@rbreich
You know life begins for the GOP at conception, and ends at birth.

@rbreich

No, because for "pro-lifers," their concern for life ends at birth.

@rbreich
Pro-lifers aren’t pro-life at all. They’re pro-birth, but after that they don’t care about that child or their mother. They’re also for the death penalty.
@rbreich
Can you imagine if they focused on actual life!?

@rbreich not really, that's not who they are.

Or what they are.

@rbreich You mean the group that advocates for abstinence as the only way to avoid unwanted pregnancy? I’m sure they’d rather want to ban insulin in favor of telling people to “eat better.”
@rbreich that would be inconsistent with their default mode of exertion of control over individuals
@rbreich unfortunately I cannot even imagine it. There is no scenario where I see these people as being objective and rational.
@rbreich I’d take them at their “fetuses matter” word if they focused more on preventable miscarriages. If life begins at conception, miscarriage is the leading cause of death in the world.
