This is Buffalo #Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington. He is the reason #DamarHamlin is still alive.

He performed #CPR on Hamlin on the field Monday night, and doctors today said his speed and skill were "absolutely vital."

You never know when you will find yourself in a situation where you have the ability to save someone’s life.

@DevinPike This guy needs some sort of public shout out.
@ericdano He was mentioned specifically today by the UC Medical Center doctors. I hope word quickly gets out there.
@DevinPike #ATCs, people. Unsung, grossly underpaid, hard working, behind the scenes heros. Shout Them Out.

@DevinPike
Does no team in the NFL have an AED on its sideline?

Edit: This question is not in any way intended to marginalize Denny Kellington!

@jrredho From this article, they "routinely" do. Unknown if there was one present Monday night in Cincinatti. https://sicscore.com/nfl/updates/why-aed-devices-and-athletic-trainers-should-be-present-at-all-youth-sporting-events
Why AED Devices and Athletic Trainers Should Be Present at all Youth Sporting Events

The recent scary incident with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin taught a valuable lesson about the importance of a prep...

@DevinPike people loathed paramedics as well. #hero
@DevinPike I saw on the Other Site(tm) someone asking why they did CPR and /didn't/ use an AED. Well, here's the thing. You start with CPR as YOU NEED AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE. It takes time to get the damn machine! So, almost always, you start with CPR, Unless in a hospital setting.
@DevinPike
It appears this was caused because he was hit in just the right place, which in turn suggests that maybe we need a redesign on those pads players wear.
@tofugolem @DevinPike it is likely less of a padding issue and more a timing issue. Commotio cordis is a known consequence of precisely timed impact. Uncommon when seen in the context of the number of impacts across sports due to timing precision needed.
@DevinPike I had my first aid certification back when my kids were little and I had everyone elses kids at my house.. but now that I'm nearing 60 it's time to renew it!!
