Seventh-round nominations for House speaker: McCarthy (D-CA), Jeffries (D-NY) and Donalds (R-FL).
In seventh round voting, McCarthy again fallsshort of the threshold to become speaker. Only drama remaining is how many votes will Donalds continue to receive from rebel Republicans.

Seventh round of voting for House speaker:

Jeffries (D) - 212
McCarthy (R) - 201
Donalds (R) - 19
Trump - 1
(One Republican member voted 'present')

An eighth round is coming up, according to several GOP members of the House.
We're on to the eighth round nominations. If any of the nominees change or the roll call begins to go in a different direction than previous rounds I'll let you know.

Eighth round results of roll call vote for House speaker:

Jeffries (D) - 212
McCarthy (R) - 201
Donalds (R) - 17
Hern (R) - 2
Trump - 1
(One member voting present)

All indications from the House floor are we're headed this afternoon for a ninth ballot.
Ninth round nominations for House speaker underway.
A small surprise now as Boebert (R-CO) rises to nominate Hern (R-OK) as speaker after McCarthy (R-CA), Jeffries (D-NY) and Donalds (R-FL) were again nominated for the ninth round.
Again, McCarthy (R-CA) falls short of gaining the needed votes to become speaker while the ninth round roll call continues in which Republicans split their votes among three nominees. Next, there'll be at least a 10th round or an adjournment.

Unofficial results of the ninth round of roll call voting for House speaker:

Jeffries (D) - 212
McCarthy (R) - 201
Donalds (R) - 17
Hern (R) - 3
(One member voted present)

@w7voa McCarthy has 200 (still looking for the member who didnt vote)
@w7voa maybe it's easier to convince some R to vote for Jeffries.😉
@sphericalcyclist @w7voa I have been saying this since yesterday!!
@w7voa Surely a 10th vote will make the difference.
@w7voa Did the count change? Kevin’s number dropped to 200. They’re at 433 total.
@w7voa when will the Democrats support a moderate Republican to end this stupid show of of the extreme right?
@w7voa can they just give it to Jeffries and move on?

@w7voa

If voting "present" counts as a nominee, then yes, the gopers are voting on three choices.

Only Spartz is showing leadership so far.

Just need 11 more gopers to vote "present".

@w7voa I thought politics was mad in the UK
