Here's some New Years perspective to start your 2023.

Barbara Walters, Anne Frank, & Martin Luther King, Jr. were all born in 1929. Yet while we were just with Ms. Walters days ago, those two icons are portrayed as ancient history.

But the ideals they fought for weren't in some distant past—they're a contemporary reality we must continue to fight for today. We control that narrative. Let’s keep fighting for that justice in 2023 & beyond.

Remember, "The past is never dead. It's not even past.”

@QasimRashid My parents were born in 1927 and 1928, and every time I read that Anne Frank was younger I am positiviely gobsmacked (all over again).

History can sometimes feel so close to us, and with that comes the understanding that we are not free of it.

@QasimRashid This factoid fascinates me because it insists on causing history from WWII, the 1960s and today to keep colliding...
@QasimRashid
it is said that, "We might be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us." (Magnolia, (film) 1999)
Anne Frank wrote, "In spite of everything, I believe that people are really good at heart." Let us celebrate the good in humanity, for that is the heart of us all.
@QasimRashid
Wow. I never thought of that. 2 out 3 died because of hate.
@QasimRashid My mom was born in 1929 and she will be 94 in a few weeks. Still kicking (not very high mind you, but still). If you think we live in crazy times, think about her generation. She told me on 12/7 this year that she remembered that on 12/8/42 they called her high school into assembly to let them know that FDR had declared war, after Pearl Harbor the day before. She said kids screamed and cried. She was a freshman.
@QasimRashid And the Past is the best learning tool. It allows us to see what works and what doesn’t so that we can make the right decisions and move forward. Unfortunately, in most cases we make the same stupid mistakes
@QasimRashid Oh wow! I did not know that! I wonder what the world would be like today if Anne Frank & Dr. Martin King Jr. were not murdered‽
