New server, "new" intro post!

I write contemporary space opera and earn my living as an aerospace engineer. I have a BS in aerospace & mechanical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, am working on an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University, and attended the Alpha Workshop and PGSS a long time ago. Thread addict. 1/

I struggle with time outside of work and writing, but recent obsessions include fountain pens, crochet for focus, and Pokemon Violet "with" my siblings. I've been getting back to playing bass/singing at church. 2/

I live with an off-brand swiss army engineer and two mildly chaotic and very photogenic tuxedo cats in Cleveland and can't wait for my local conventions: Cleveland Concoction, Confluence, ConFusion, etc. 3/

My book is about body-possessing aliens, flying saucers, and an underfunded, secret government project. Links to many vendors here: https://blog.shannoneichorn.com

I like engaging! Feel free to chat/ask questions/pose silly hypotheticals. I look forward to continuing to make new friends and get to know old friends better on Mastodon! 5/5...so far.
@shannoneichorn My old stomping grounds!
@ludibriumventis Oh, sweet, which one?
@shannoneichorn The whole Cleveland part. The ConCoction peeps came out to #InConJunction when they were starting out, and it was super exciting!

@ludibriumventis Hey, that's when I met the ConCoction peeps! We had a running joke that I could only hang out with them in Indy.

If I were going to list my full con circuit, InCon would be on it. I've always felt very welcome there.

@shannoneichorn Well, we'd love to have you back, any time! (:

@ludibriumventis Thank you!!! I'm going to hold off until I finish my degree and then try to start back at a more sustainable pace than I had in 2019. (9 cons was too many.) I'll definitely let y'all know.

And if you're part of the staff/volunteers, thank you for all the work you put in!

@shannoneichorn Aw, thanks. I've been part of the team with InCon since 2007, I think, I have been chair twice. (Well, two and a half? I was chair for That Year We Don't Mention, and rolled over to 2021.)
@ludibriumventis Oof. Heaping extra blessings on you, then. As if being con chair in a regular year isn't terrible enough!
@shannoneichorn At least by July, I had already had a few months' worth of experience at it. (I help run academic conferences for my real life job.) We did some virtual stuff, that year, and then in 2021 did a hybrid convention, with in-person and virtual guests, and in-person and virtual attendees.
@ludibriumventis That's great that you were able to pivot so effectively!
@shannoneichorn Also, now I feel that SURELY we've actually met in person, somewhere (other than InCon), but I can't figure out where.
@ludibriumventis Probably? InCon or SBI or MarCon or Concoction or those three times @kmherkes got me to go to Chicago cons or...

@shannoneichorn @kmherkes I've been involved with SBI, as well.

Did you go to Chicon, this year?

@ludibriumventis @kmherkes No, in 2022,I only went to Confluence.
@shannoneichorn Oh, no, are we the same person?
@ludibriumventis Going by your profile, it's a close call, but while I have a garden, I don't identify as a gardener. And if I ever have to defend someone's honor in a fencing duel, their honor will be maligned.
