I stopped Glass Onion to explain to my family that the "hydrogen fuel" at the center of the plot doesn't make any sense, but did they appreciate the insight? No, it's all "shut up nerd" this & "start the damn movie" that.
@drvolts itโ€™s so good. So, so good.
@drvolts When the H-bomb drop they are going to have several seconds of regret about this.
@drvolts now you know how I feel when computers are a plot device. "Enter Password"
@drvolts I had to explain to my 13-year-old nephew what a fax machine was.
@drvolts The sequel is going to involve heat pumps.
@drvolts The part where they imply it would be used with existing home gas lines is especially wild
@drvolts metallic hydrogen is a thing, theoretically could also be trapped in a crystal. Though we are far from that being a reality.
@drvolts Well, yes, but it isn't supposed to make sense. Neither is what is written on the napkin that will supposedly bring down the Musk/Zuck/Jobs character (something something crypto).
@not2b @drvolts lol yes I paused on a closeup to try to read and...buzzword soup. Funny tho
@drvolts I mean, yes, the fact that it makes no sense at all is a central plot point, right? If your son doesnโ€™t want to know halfway through, heโ€™ll know by the end!
@drvolts I'm waiting for the Contrarian Slate Article: "sure, Miles Bron was terrible, but his sin was pushing his clean energy program before it was ready, and by destroying his company Andi Brand avenged her personal grievances at the cost of accelerating the climate apocalypse."
@drvolts have you seen Strange World? I feel like thereโ€™s a family energy lecture or two in there
@drvolts I'm used to it. Example: We were watching the new Pinocchio and my husband says "if you're a male cricket, why do you have an ovipositor?"
@drvolts But Uber for biospheres?
@drvolts Benoit Blanc would have another murder on his hands if I tried that.
@drvolts omg I get so many eye rolls from family about anything I call out as nonsense scientifically...or even how horrible they pronounce baklava on that baking show...or how real lab equipment is usually beige and how skulls don't naturally have a cut across the top...and on and on...I really wish media would pay even slightly more attention to reality

@drvolts and I recall this one moment, during my second degree...when the university had brought in a photographer, to feature a young man, into the lab I was working in.

The photographer wanted me to move my work so that he could stand on my work bench.

And then insisted that the subject hold up a vial above his eyes....massive lab safety violations!

The photographer not only disrupted my own work, but insisted on 'sexing up' the photos. And dangerous lab practice.

@drvolts Your experience is the story of my life since the 1950s.
@drvolts I mean, the guy pushing it is a complete moron.
@drvolts Hahahaha. I guess they're reminding you it's Clue not School House Rock. :)
@drvolts oh dear. I was thinking about watching it, but if it's just going to make me angry I might give it a miss. What is the BS they are peddling?
@Naich @drvolts I'd give it a chance. All the tech in the film is nonsense *on purpose*.
