I recently joined Mastodon, and I found it jarring that it has very few discoverability features.
So Iโve built this little tool to help build connections with people: https://followgraph.vercel.app/
Check it out!

@gabipurcaru This is pretty cool!
A little weirdness: it doesn't find me at [email protected], but does find me at [email protected]
I think that's likely because it doesn't traverse webfinger across redirects to WEB_DOMAIN as per: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/config/#web_domain
(Or I'm confused and don't understand how webfinger is meant to work...)
All good...but will the opening image be improved upon?
@BertL thanks for the feedback!
I looked into this, and I see that Mastodon allows people to explicitly opt out of being discovered by setting a flag on their profile ("Suggest account to others").
#followgraph honours this flag and hides people who don't want to be discovered.

@gabipurcaru this is pretty cool.
1) I wish there was an easy way to save it send it
2) second wish - post/boost/reply stats is this person merely sharing out are they generating content
3) third wish - the warnings looked like an interesting tool all in itself, possibly pruning dead follows?
@gabipurcaru this is a great tool, thank you for it!
Using it on mobile I see how much friction there is in cross-server following on Mastodon.
Every time I tap "follow" I had to copy /rewrite the handle from server/handle format & paste back into Tusky / search until I started copying the handle text from the app & pasting /searching in Tusky that way.
A button to load a handle to clipboard or a way to redirect to the searcher's server w/ search prefilled might help a lot.
@gabipurcaru There is nothing in this list yet. When members of this list publish new posts, they will appear here.

What struck me about my specific results was that they all had large followings.
Is there a bottom cut-off? I find this problematic in that I want to create a *peer* base here, and am DELIBERATELY AVOIDING FOLLOWING ORGS with paid social media reps and prolific RTers.
How about mining the next level? And including filters for max / min followers?
