#WritingCommunity #writer I've been working on a #mystery #writing project and usually, I check Twitter when I take writing breaks, just to see what's happening. But, EVERY trend there is so freaking negative, it's totally ruining my motivation.

So, I'm here on #Mastodon because honestly, it's a way more positive and uplifting place. Big thanks to everyone for the likes, the follows, the great comments, and the positive vibes!

Now, have some African bush vipers. They are venomous.

@Random_Snake_Facts those scales scream danger
@DanCast Yeah, they have what is called "keeled" scales that are pointy with a ridge down the center. Keeled scales look rough and have that "dragon-like" armored appearance and don't shine. Non-keeled scales are smooth and shiny with rounded edges, like this Brazilian rainbow boa. It has no keeling to its scales.
@Random_Snake_Facts @DanCast Shark skin is also "keeled" ;P
@Pibble @DanCast Interesting! I didn't know that! Thank you for the science facts!
@Random_Snake_Facts we had ball pythons when I was a kid – not exactly cuddly, but easygoing, and very smooth skin. Those scales look like a threat.
