"Actually, studies have shown that riders using pedal-assists—a type of e-bike that amplifies your pedal power but does not take over entirely—get more exercise than those on regular bikes, because they cycle longer and more frequently.”

Hell on Two Wheels, Until the E-Bike’s Battery Runs Out

In 2020, Americans bought more than twice as many electric bikes as electric cars. Patricia Marx test-drove a fleet of them, including a Vado SL and a Gocycle G4i.

@TheWarOnCars Can confirm! We've put over 15,000 miles on our E-cargo bike in 33 months. Most of those miles would have been driving but since we purchased the e-bike I no longer drive! There's no way I would have biked those miles without e-assist. Hauling a kid, their bike and groceries up these hills is tough!...I did it for a short time on a non-electric cargo bike. It was not pleasant. 😆
@ShawneMartinez this is incredible. I knew you rode a lot but I didn’t know it was this much!!
@atmendez it's amazing how all of those short 5 mile trips add up! Then on big days I'm sure glad we have dual batteries. I rode the first 18 months or so with a single battery and that range anxiety is real! Recently picked up the 5k sticker from Splendid to go with the 10k. 🏆
