Who has been to this amazing place?

I treasured my travels on these islands 🧡

@DrLygo
Thank you for the photo! Incredible!
@DrLygo I spent nearly two weeks at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig
@ariaflame Oh wonderful, you speak Gaelic?
@DrLygo Tha beagan gàidhlig agam, ach chan eil mi fileanta
So I'm still learning.
@ariaflame Kudos! I had to use google translate for that!
It’s a beautiful language; good luck with the studies.
@DrLygo 🙋🏻‍♂️ beautiful place, kids didn’t appreciate the climb though! 😅
@owen Haha. I hear you! Snacks, snacks and more snacks… It’s the only way 😆 My kids have all done charity trails and my youngest said he wanted to do his because he knew it meant unlimited chocolate (and for Duchenne, of course!)
@DrLygo we did the #NC500 last year but unfortunately couldn’t add Skye to the itinerary. It’s higher on the priority list for the next time we go to Scotland
@molecat Oh wonderful. I would love to do the NC500! Definitely worth a trip to Skye next time you’re up there 😊
@DrLygo I highly recommend it. We did it on a budget, camping kit in the car, combination of booked campsites and wild camping.
It was stunning, one of the most memorable holidays of my life ❤️

@DrLygo

I was fortunate enough to do some walking here a few years ago.
A beautiful place!

@DrLygo Yes I have. I took this July 29, 2016.
@george_barwood That’s lovely! The people really give it scale! 👌🏻
@DrLygo Yes, but that was a looong time ago 🚲. We missed the peaks on your picture (fog) but that was compensated for by a playful seal close to the road.
@evert Oh that’s wonderful! I went to several islands and somehow didn’t see a single one!
@DrLygo …last week!
@_davelee Beautiful! It must be magic to be there in the snow!
@DrLygo yes it was stunning! …And a tad nippy!
@DrLygo Have taken a photo from almost exactly the same spot, on a very blustery day in May 2017. Beautiful part of the world 😌
@slats It really is! This was my breakfast spot! The dawn photographers had left and the throng hadn’t yet arrived. It was perfect!
@DrLygo I have! Just this year but the view was a bit different... 😂 maybe next time. 🤣
@seth Pesky weather! 😆 What did it look like from within the cloud at the top?
@DrLygo We had a 5 year old in tow and we are from Florida -- so no hiking that day! 😂 We ended up seeing the dinosaur footprints which were much more entertaining for her than the cold rain and 40 mph winds. 😄

@seth Ooh. Oh my word, they were awesome weren’t they? Totally understand that being a better fit! I got lucky while I was down there and happened to bump into a marine biologist and palaeontologist on the beach! Got a decent tour 😂

Being able to press your hand into fossilised dinosaur footprints is something else, isn’t it? 👌🏻

@DrLygo Yes! We lucked out too. The tide was out and we were able to find one. We weren't so lucky. There were only a few teenagers hanging out but we all worked together and found it! 😄
@seth Excellent pic and bravo on finding them. It’s not always easy I don’t think!
@DrLygo yes, went many many years ago in mid June. Climbed Sgùrr Dearg on The Cuillin and there was still snow on top. View was utterly amazing. Didn't have the nerve to climb the In Pinn though 😬
@PeteWM1 That sounds amazing! I haven’t been up in the Cuillins at all. I can safely say I wouldn’t have the nerve for a lot of it. But the views look out of this world, so I might have to find the nerve!
@DrLygo as I said this was many years ago when I was much younger and fitter. Tbh, not sure I would have the energy nowadays. Sea level to 3k feet+ may be a bit beyond me sadly😧 The view was SO worth it though. Could see right out to the Outer Hebrides and beyond
@DrLygo I like your idea. Can you guess where this is??
@jillfavero Oh my word. I don’t know, but that’s stunning 🤩
Where is it?
@DrLygo IT sure looks like cuillin heights! ❤️
@lasseschelde It’s The Old Man of Storr on the Trotternish peninsula. Highly recommended 🥰
@DrLygo thanks for clearing that up. Noted. I will check it out. 😊
@DrLygo at least I got the Island right.😅
@DrLygo totally magic...when the midges aren't biting! If you didn't make to Camasunary - go next time! Or Loch Coruisk via The Bad Step - arctic terns, and the Cuillin Ridge snaking all around you. I love Skye.
@andyfraser I would really love to. But I’m absolutely useless with exposure and heights. It’s ridiculously debilitating. Just looking across from Elgol made me giddy with the thought. I’m quite cross about it 😂 because I absolutely love being out on trails with big views. Just too much of a wimp 😉
@DrLygo I have!! Although it wasn't that sunny when I went!
@DrLygo I never realized there was anything so pointy there. My brother travelled Skye by bike in his youth - if I recall there's not a single tree growing there, or maybe just one? Or perhaps that's just an apocryphal tale?

@enmodo Yeah, there are lots of pointy bits on Skye actually - several like this, created by massive landslips on the Trotternish Peninsula, and the Black Cuillins are pretty pointy!

And apocryphal tale I think! I totally get why you ask about trees - parts of Skye seem to have very few. But there are several areas of woodland and some pine forestry too I believe. I’ve only scratched the surface there and need to go and explore more! It’s so varied and so very beautiful.

@DrLygo Was due to as part of a Roadtrip after running the West Highland Way Race in 2020... for obvious reasons that didn't happen. 😭
Someday. 👍
@Runner_Coops Oh, that’s gutting. That would have been an ace race-chill plan 🙌🏻
@DrLygo It really would have been. Still have that race & roadtrip on my radar for some day, plenty of time. 😀
@Runner_Coops Worth hanging onto that plan all round. I’d love to go and wander the WHW. So many plans..!

@DrLygo

Bit of a walk that one. Not a bad patch of Scotland :)
