I guess it's time for my #introduction post here.

I'm Carl, a real geek, I love #tech #gaming #Astrophotograhy and #hiking. Been working as a developer for past 20+ years and now transitioning to the role Solutions Architect.

Just finished and published my first children's book #CharlieAndFuzz a story about a #deaf child.

Looking forward to hopefully meet up with fellow #authors #geeks and #snowdonia hikers on here.

@_belial Welcome! Great to have you here
@mrlzl thank you, that's my 2nd Australian reply now, the bind between Cymru/Wales and Australia is clearly strong with the force 🀣
@_belial my pleasure. I am enjoying the more social vibe on Mastodon. I hope you enjoy it too!
@_belial I’m also an architect, hello!
@Mgrrl ooh hello there, did you transition from dev to architect too? I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead but still hoping I get plenty of time to fiddle with new tech too πŸ€—
@_belial I was kind of a weird dev/ops hybrid (back before devops was invented!) and worked in between the telco network and IT. Then I became a solution arch then an enterprise arch and then went back and forth btw them. It’s hard to step back and see the bigger picture of joining systems to each other, instead of hands on knowledge of a single system. But for me it is funner and much more interesting!
@Mgrrl yeah I can see how it'd be much more interesting (and fulfilling) than just pure #codemonkey (or as I prefer #codepoet ) work day in, day out. I've been coding since I was 10, but recently spending more time mentoring and design/arch so looking forward to doing a full solutions arch role now πŸ‘πŸ‘
