Here’s a tiny little bit of positivity you can bring to people’s lives here on the #Fediverse this season and always:

PRESS THAT STAR BUTTON.

Just one like, one acknowledgement, one friendly nod, one expression of appreciation can brighten someone’s day or lighten a dark mood. It’s more important than ever at this time of year when, for many, moods are particularly dark.

And of course boost if you want, too. Do both. Liberally. Go for it. Like, boost, like.

I'm following back everyone who favourited this because you're all the kind of lovely, kind people I want to follow. 💖
@charlesroper hey man, nice to meet you. It’s great to be in touch with this fresh community
@tipoqueno Same, nice to meet you too 🤝
@charlesroper It's bizarre to need two buttons.
@LibDemCampaigner They do different things. Boost shares the post with your followers, while favourite just sends thanks to the author.
@charlesroper the fact this has four boosts and no stars makes me fear for humanity;)

@Loukas Fear not, have a look at the original message:

You rarely get an accurate boost/favourite/reply count unless viewing the origin.

@charlesroper @Loukas yeah. That's a thing. You need to go back to the original sometimes.
@charlesroper ah, so I was only seeing how people on my server had reached?
@Loukas Right. Only seeing those your server already "knows" about.
@charlesroper I'll give you the ole one two buddy lol

@charlesroper I'm glad to see someone else speak out for the Favourite button.

Boosting is terrific. It's a way to tell everyone who follows you that this post is worth reading.

Faves are different. It's like you're at an event, and afterward you go up to one of the speakers to say you really enjoyed what they said. It's private, but it's a handshake or a pat on the back to say "nice job." And it just takes a click.

@Karen5Lund Absolutely. No need to hold back. It's so easy to be generous with them, why wouldn't you?
@charlesroper Something that really encourages and helps me personally is a reply, however short 😊
