@zoeschiffer I’m loving sitting back and watching this twitter ship 🚢 sink in slow motion. It’s exhilarating. 🐣🪦
I’m comfortable watching it from afar, too. What I gather from mastodon daily is the perfect amount. 💕 🥰

The only problem is we're watching all this happen from the vantage point of one of the lifeboats which is already at capacity
Nothing says growth like shutting down datacenters!
So Twitter will have two single points of failure: the data center and the CEO.
Attached: 1 image If you are upset or not dealing well with your #Mastodon server being down, a quick reminder that in the first years of the bird site, we had regularly this image of a whale when their server was down. #Twitter #twittermigration
I'm surprised that we haven't seen another peak in numbers signing up for the #Fediverse.
May be that will come when the closures occur.
@zoeschiffer my employer shut down our data center in Santa Clara but not because anything bad was happening, just was not cost effective compared to the likes of AWS and Google.
Much harder to scale up, moving to newer hardware was pretty much impossible,, reliability, etc.
That sounds like a Christmas to every teenage wanna-be hacker that always wanted to knock Twitter offline, but couldn't because the infrastructure was too strong.
Elon the genius.
