In case you needed another reminder, it’s absolutely CRITICAL, as we strive to achieve so-called “better cars,” that we make EVERY strategic action/effort at the same time (or even BEFORE/proactively) to ensure that we are achieving FEWER cars, LESS driving, more inviting transpo alternatives & better communities/cities!

Apple and Google named in US lawsuit over Congolese child cobalt mining deaths

Dell, Microsoft and Tesla also among tech firms named in case brought by families of children killed or injured while mining in DRC

The Guardian
@BrentToderian i know this is not the point of this post but...
as a Melbournian, the C1 class tram is terrible in every way, please do not use it as inspiration for your own tram networks. Instead, look at the D or E class trams as examples of good trams tp use on a modern network, as unlike the C1 they don't cause injuries to drivers and are actually pleasant to ride on and move around in.
@BrentToderian Unfortunately, this is not a realistic solution for rapid decarbonization, particularly in the US where 90% of travel is in private vehicles. And unlike other countries, the transportation sector is the largest source of CO2 emissions here.
@yadav @BrentToderian It can be with the political will. My local bus system stood up a BRT line in 3 years at a mid-8 figure capital investment - now, it's not true BRT but the improvement in reliability and frequency was eye-opening and led the way to increased ridership. Build it, make it frequent and reliable, and they will come
@BrentToderian it was surprisingly easy explaining this to an admittedly very intelligent person today. ‘EVs don’t address inactivity, congestion, or Road danger. But we need a massive pilot saturating a district with EV share hubs. This will correct the mistakes we made with private motoring.’ He got it straight away
