That @drewharwell is cool as hell: "Hell, no. I’m not deleting a tweet that contained factual information and didn’t violate anyone’s rules,” he said. https://www.washingtonpost.com/media/2022/12/23/musk-twitter-journalists-suspended-elonjet/
Journalists who won’t delete Musk tweets remain locked out of Twitter

Musk suspended reporters from Twitter and later reinstated them, with a catch: They must delete tweets related to the account @ElonJet, which has tracked Musk’s plane using public data.

The Washington Post
@caseynewton @drewharwell Can confirm he is cool as hell.
@Shira @caseynewton Daww. You two. I'm not worthy!

@caseynewton @drewharwell The only correct way to handle this.

No journalist should bow to the demands of a story's subject, especially when that subject is the richest man in the world.

@Chris @caseynewton @drewharwell
No journalist should be using #Twitter anymore period. Those that must should basically be promoting #TwitterMigration non stop. And ad-blockers.
Honestly the implication that if twitter DID let him tweet again without moving the post that he would then be ok with it is pretty un-cool imo.
Just move on people, it's one stupid website ran by a fascist. The addiction to it is just lame at this point
@caseynewton I am sure @drewharwell is very cool indeed... but I also remember Twitter demanding the NY Post delete their tweet to the Hunter laptop story. Maybe something more systemic is wrong here.
@jonathanstray @caseynewton @drewharwell That seems to be a completely different situation where they were worried about the legal implications. Here, Musk is banning journalists that he doesn’t like for made up reasons.
@jonathanstray @caseynewton I'm not that cool. But just to compare: Twitter reversed its NY Post decision (based on flawed hack/disinfo fears) within two days and has basically never stopped apologizing for it. New Twitter has blocked journalists and others for more than a week, and counting, for sharing public data and reporting because the owner didn't like it
@drewharwell @caseynewton It is wrong and stupid that you and other journalists are still banned. However, the NY Post account suspension lasted for 16 days (link blocking lasted for only two, as you say) and was reversed only after Dorsey was hauled in front of Congress.

Twitter lifts freeze from New York Post account after policy reversal

Latest move in an ongoing saga comes after CEO Jack Dorsey was grilled by Republican lawmakers during a Senate hearing on Wednesday

The Guardian
@jonathanstray @drewharwell @caseynewton your retelling of this story seems to me missing a whole lot of important nuance, and yet the story of Drew’s removal is missing zero nuance as far as I can tell. Perhaps the equivalency isn’t as strong as this comparison would like to suggest. Might even be ludicrous to compare the unilateral decisions of a guy who fired his trust and safety team to the documented decisions of a trust and safety team
@jonathanstray @caseynewton @drewharwell Yes, because there was a concern that the story was based on hacked material. And that issue STILL hasn't been settled.

@caseynewton

Much better than the "hell no! I'm not deleting this tweet I made to specifically violate the rules" a certain "public intellectual" tried to pull a few months back.

@caseynewton @drewharwell Musk is also still lying about who was in the vehicle and that flight tracking had NOTHING to do with it.
@caseynewton @drewharwell Drew is confirmed cool as hell meanwhile I’m totally cucked and deleted my tweet immediately to keep using my account 🥴
@taylorlorenz @caseynewton @drewharwell
Taylor just use it to drive traffic here. No need to feed the beast otherwise.
@drewharwell @caseynewton @taylorlorenz I don’t actually find any of this amusing at all. It feels much like continuing to work with Harvey Weinstein even after you know. Because “opportunities” and “access.” :/
@caseynewton @taylorlorenz @drewharwell … he gets off on crossing boundaries …
@taylorlorenz @caseynewton Taylor you're the ultimate gigachad
@caseynewton @drewharwell
The only thing that keeps twitter relevant is that so many journalists use it. So yeah, keep banning journalists Elon. Proof that intelligence is not easily definable, considering that this guy is supposedly a genious.
@caseynewton @drewharwell Rupar and others that continue to stay on Twitter because of their follower count come off as unprincipled. Like a cop or politician saying, 'I know bribes are bad but I enjoy the benefits the money provides"
