Journalists who won’t delete Musk tweets remain locked out of Twitter
Musk suspended reporters from Twitter and later reinstated them, with a catch: They must delete tweets related to the account @ElonJet, which has tracked Musk’s plane using public data.
@caseynewton I am sure @drewharwell is very cool indeed... but I also remember Twitter demanding the NY Post delete their tweet to the Hunter laptop story. Maybe something more systemic is wrong here.
@jonathanstray@caseynewton I'm not that cool. But just to compare: Twitter reversed its NY Post decision (based on flawed hack/disinfo fears) within two days and has basically never stopped apologizing for it. New Twitter has blocked journalists and others for more than a week, and counting, for sharing public data and reporting because the owner didn't like it
@jonathanstray@drewharwell@caseynewton your retelling of this story seems to me missing a whole lot of important nuance, and yet the story of Drew’s removal is missing zero nuance as far as I can tell. Perhaps the equivalency isn’t as strong as this comparison would like to suggest. Might even be ludicrous to compare the unilateral decisions of a guy who fired his trust and safety team to the documented decisions of a trust and safety team
