Question of the Day: what's an opinion/take on a media thing you care about (#TV #movies #videogames #anime #manga #books #comics #music #sports #ttrpg, etc) that's pretty common among people not into it that bothers you a lot?

(it doesn't have to be on a specific property it can be just on the genre/hobby as a whole too, etc)

@ami_angelwings As a fan of the film Soylent Green, there's this mythos that the film isn't worth watching knowing the "twist" and that the cannibalism is the shocking bit in film (we already know there's a black market human meat market the cops ignore) it's a secret in the film universe because the meat was being sourced by escalating murder of the elderly & the poor. Soylent Green being people explains the other violence.

The original author, Harry Harrison, lowkey hated that the cannibalism was focused on for shock value and felt the true horror was the overpopulation.
