If I'm going to be 100% honest, the number one thing that bugs me about Mastodon is they named it after a 10,000 year old extinct animal.
@grumpygamer Not the metal band then?
@Sef @grumpygamer Yes, it's actually named after the band. But I'm sure the band is named after the animal, so the difference isn't huge :)
@grumpygamer and hearing it without any context, it doesn't even sound cool.

@grumpygamer Until somebody clones one from preserved DNA.

Somebody is working on that right?

@grumpygamer Still better than "The Facebook" 😆
@grumpygamer you could switch to an instance that runs Pleroma, and instead every time have to look up what it means and how to pronounce it.
@grumpygamer Then I guess the meaning of the word Mastodon must bug you even more :P
Masto = breast in Greek
Don = tooth in Greek
@grumpygamer The number one thing that bugs me is posts are no longer called "toots." 😭
@grumpygamer In hindsight it does make sense, as it's old tech that's regaining popularity now
@grumpygamer one of the main reasons I installed a mastodon-compatible server that's lighter weight... It's incredibly obtuse.
@grumpygamer Ok this is way to funny because my first thought about Mastodon was how can you pick such a fucking shit name? In the end its still a cool platform, despite the sour lackluster name.
