The benchmark for most precipitous *immediate* cold snap I've experienced in #Denver was on February 18, 2018, when (according to a personal weather station in the neighborhood), our temperature fell:

• 9.6° in 10 minutes
• 17° in 25 minutes
• 22° in an hour
• 36° in six hours
• 43° in 12 hours
• 57° in ~17 hours
• 69° (not nice!) in ~38 hours

Tomorrow I'll be watching *my* new personal weather station (https://bit.ly/MMHwx) to see how this #coldfront measures up!

#CentralPark #Denver's top five* 15-minute temperature drops in the last decade or so:

2/18/2018: -13.0° (53.7° to 40.7°)

12/3/2013: -8.5° (57.7° to 49.2°)

12/29/2017: -7.5° (53.9° to 46.4°)

9/7/2020: -6.8° (88.6° to 81.8°)

10/9/2019: -5.1° (69.5 to 64.4°)

*I think. I might have missed one or two. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Those were all the precipitous beginnings of ~50-70° temperature drops over the course of 24-48 hours.

That 9/7/2020 one is the most memorable. We went from 93°(!!) on a Monday afternoon to 35° and snowing on a Tuesday morning.

@MileHighBrendan Also don’t forget that in some areas like Fort Collins, when the 9/7/2020 cold front came through, the temperature initially went *up* because it blew away the smoke plume from the Cameron Peak fire that was blotting out the sun.
@MileHighBrendan We’re going to get dumped on and frozen in Minneapolis. Were going to do our holiday drive to Ohio on Thursday, took off yesterday instead and are very glad we did. Going to have to pay several shoveling bonuses to the housesitter!
@MileHighBrendan Reports out of Wyoming are that the temp is dropping more than 30 degrees in an hour when the front rolls through.
@johninfante Oh wow, yeah, the ECMWF-derived app forecast on my phone is now explicitly calling for 35-degree drop in one hour between 5-6pm. Holy #COwx!
