If it feels to you as though Twitter is being run by a petulant child, well, you're not alone.
Elon Musk has thrown multiple Twitter tantrums lately, including one tweet–now deleted–belittling the intelligence of a Democratic Congressman.

not to defend congressmen in general... but mr. musk is a rightie and mr. schiff is not.
Muskrat is just jealous of Adam Schiff's jawline and singular chin
I don't see #spacekaren talking much about his beehatch slapping, rejecting him as CEO of Twitter.
@georgetakei #Elon seems to be deleting a lot of his own tweets lately ... I guess it's a form of therapy and boy, does he need it ... Also, I think congressman Schiff has much higher IQ than #SpaceKaren
@tofugolem @georgetakei There are two phenomena here that really bother me because they're related to radicalization and gaslighting...
1. In-group dynamics - once one is accepted in an "in-group", they distort all events related to that group to justify emotional buy-in
2. High price of ownership - as described by Dan Ariely, people overvalue something they possess, even if it is valueless, leading them to over-price letting that thing go
Gaslighting 101
@vijtable @georgetakei
Don't forget the backfire effect.
For a lot of us, showing us evidence that one of our conclusions is wrong will just cause us to dig our heels in deeper and cling to the wrong belief even more firmly.
Then there's confirmation bias, which I'm often guilty of, in which you accept or reject evidence based on whether it supports or refutes a conclusion you already believe.
Apparently Elmo hasn't read Adam Schiff's brilliant book, Midnight in Washington: How We Almost Lost Our Democracy and Still Could.
