Few quick Mastodon tweaks I like:

* Settings > "Enable advanced web interface" is Tweetdeck and works really well.

* In your notification column, turn off all the "Play sound" toggles and turn on the "show filter bar" to be able to see favorites, follows, etc. by type.

* The web app is good! The official mobile app's not bad, either. But there are a lot of app options with different flavors worth trying out. Toot is popular on iOS. On Android, I use Yuito: https://bit.ly/3jjtzif

Yuito - Mastodon クライアントアプリ - Apps on Google Play

It is a client application for comfortable use of decentralized SNS such as Mastodon, Pleroma, Pixelfed.

@drewharwell drew it appears you’ve had some freed up social media time to try this out
@rachellerman I've also mastered three languages and learned the flute
@drewharwell I just love Toot! for iOS mobile devices.
@drewharwell Toot! Has been fantastic for me.
@drewharwell Yeah the web app with advanced web features rock! WAY better thank the birdie site.
@drewharwell Sengi is a better Tweetdeck alternative than the Masto advanced interface IMHO. You can download a client or run it in a browser window. There may be other alternatives that are better as well, but that's the one I found.
@drewharwell I'm using tusky on Android. So far so good.
@jakelondon Nice, thanks for the Sengi recommendation.
@drewharwell I like #Fedilab for Android @apps. It costs a few bucks in the Google Play store but you can get it via #Fdroid or sideload it free I think.
@drewharwell
Yuito is great ... I use it on my tablet.
I use megalodon (a fork of the official app) on my phone. It's a little lighter on resources and the push notifications work well thereon.
@drewharwell im digging Megalodon right now. Tried Yuito, but had a buggy experience. Might have been issues with the instance at the time? Ill give it another try. Isnt it nice to have options.
@drewharwell always goes back to default Mastodon app on Android lmao. Don't know why, but 3rd party apps always feels off.
@drewharwell Gotta try these out! And here I thought I knew some things after 3 - 4 weeks! 😂 Thanks Drew!!! ☺️👍🏽
@drewharwell I've been gradually working on a stylesheet to make the Mastodon web interface look like Twitter. Not perfect yet, and not everyone's thing even if it was, but it's providing me with a level of familiarity that's helping me feel more comfortable here.
@drewharwell @vwdasher Toot! Has the most functionality on iOS. #Mammoth is worth also worth trying and is evolving quite quickly during its beta
@drewharwell thanks man! Yuito is great! Wouldn't have found it without this post.
@drewharwell the folks that make Tweetbot for iOS have @ivory in alpha testing now. I love it having come from Tweetbot.
@drewharwell I'm finding Tusky on Android surprisingly good, bug free, and easy to use with multiple accounts. It's almost like tech people are into this #Mastodon place and rapidly building tools for it!

@drewharwell try joining TRUTH social it’s much much better

Bring your followers with and block anyone you don’t like

@drewharwell
Thanks!
Would you know why Yuito isn't enabled to install on any of my Android devices? See image where button "install" is grey and inactive.
@drewharwell so far I like MetaText for Apple devices but I think Mammoth will be my favorite when it’s released. I’m beta testing it and it’s still not ready for prime time.
@drewharwell
For Android you should really try the Fedilab app by @apps. It's a few bucks but actively developed with updates coming out quite frequently with new features. Totally worth it

@drewharwell

@apps

So I am going to add on here that I discovered and incredible feature, Fedilab lets you follow mirrored versions of Twitter accounts using nitter as their own timeline. I needed this feature to follow some local news bloggers and NWS, etc.

https://fedilab.app/wiki/features/twitter-timelines-with-nitter/

Fedilab

Home > Features > Follow Twitter timelines with Nitter Fedilab Follow Twitter timelines with Nitter Since release 2.27.1 the app allows to follow Twitter timelines by using Nitter which is a free and open source alternative Twitter front-end focused on privacy. The goal of this integration is to allow you to follow several Twitter feeds from different accounts in a same timeline. Twitter servers are never used, and you will never interact directly with these Twitter accounts.

Fedilab
@dosemakestoxin @apps Using Fedilab now and it's great! Feature-rich. Thanks.

@drewharwell @apps

Happy to share my experience, glad it's working out!

@drewharwell All I wish is that you could change the width of the columns in the tweetdeck. They are far too narrow for me to comfortably read.
@drewharwell Anyone know if there's something that would let me have columns dedicated to a single account without making a list of the account? I made heavy use of that tweetdeck feature.
@drewharwell I tried Yuito, but find I like Tusky better. If you haven't tried it, it's worth trying out.

@drewharwell

Tokodon on Linux, Metatext on iOS and Mastonaut on Mac OS are all quite good.
YMMV 👍✌️
