@Rhube @gamingonlinux I agree. And don't want to come off as pejorative, I'm really trying to be descriptive, those notions about why you should not promoting your art sound really stupid to me. But idk. Maybe there's something I'm missing 🤔 like, what do people mean by "promoting." Are you just saying you want to post pictures of your work with a link that says "if you're interested, see more here?"
But I see how "advertising" could open pandoras box. How about this as a proposed moderation rule on advertising yourself: "No Capitalist Advertising." So, you got a nonprofit, mutual care need, it's a labor cooperative, or just you, go for it. Anyone who employs for profit, uses copyright or patent, rents or lends at interest can fuck right off? [This would be a perfect time to experiment with a poll, but I won't]
@Bodhioshea @gamingonlinux yeah, no, creatives actually need to profit to live, not just beg and ask for mutual aid.
I was responding to explain the situation, but I'm not going to enter a debate about it, for my mental health. I hope you understand.
@gamingonlinux lol, I jumped over here and immediately started posting my projects.
Everyone's going to see my cool shit, whether they like it or not! 😆
*Thank you.* Couldn't agree more.
I love the vibe in this place, and I'm all about people showing not only the cool stuff they have, but also their enthusiasm/love and their background history associated with that stuff.
