This is the weekend I end my 46 year radio career. After 19 years as the Tech Guy, the last Saturday show is today. Tomorrow is the very last show of all.

I'm not leaving the mic, however. I'm still doing six podcasts a week, including the new Ask the Tech Guys which debuts January 7, 2023.

Thanks radio, it's been a blast. You will be forever in my heart.

@leo I found you on radio, Leo! Thank you for helping my dad out (twice) - and for telling him the [fond] nickname for that blue screen that Windows presented to him and wouldn't let him do anything (BSOD)! He uses that term now for when his TV futzes or iPad locks and he can't get it unlocked.

We just let him do it w/o correcting him. After all, Leo told him that it was called the Blue Screen of Death when the laptop locked up - so he applies that to everything. 😂

@leo congrats!! You won the game. ♥️ and I’m very happy you’ll still do Twit tv shows.
@leo I'm glad you are able to continue what you love while doing it on your own terms.
@leo You’ll now have the time (sarcasm) to get more into AMATEUR Radio now that it’s no longer your profession. ;-)
@leo I have been listening to your podcasts since about 2008.
The only radio that I listen to these days is in my car and I don't drive as much as I used to.
@leo Oh no I loved TTG and Call for Help! It's been a ride! I'm kind of sad we never got a Twit/Tech channel on Sirius XM
@leo It's kinda crazy to think how much has changed over those many years.
I have so many memories of driving around on a Sunday listening to you recap tech news. Or on LONG drives up the coast when I lived in Seattle.
That was back when the Fairplex in Pomona still had a monthly computer fair.

@leo But, the fact the memories are all tied to old things that are also remnants of the past says a lot.

I think back to a discussion about Live365 online streaming radio and how it's much easier to reach people with terrestrial radio, since 'bandwidth' isn't as much of an issue per listener as it is online.

Times change.

@leo incredible journey, thanks for everything Leo!
@leo congratulations, Leo!
@leo podcast is radio without the waves.
@leo Congratulations on the kind of career on which legends are built.
@leo Maybe buy a low-power transmitter for TWIT so you can hit the 50 year mark?

@leo long live TWiT!

As we get further away from the utility of AM radio, the shows for which I remember to check-in will keep vanishing.

Sometimes I put batteries in my desk radio and tune in, knowing one day that programming won't be there anymore. It's nice to know a show is still there, even if I don't regularly check on it.

But usually I just stare at the radio without turning it on.

This is how Orpheus felt leading Eurydice out of Hell: one look back and the jig is up.

@leo I think this podcast thing might work out for you though…

@leo I’ve always enjoyed the times I’ve heard The Tech Guy via podcast, and I’m sad for the people who won’t have your advice to lean on, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. And we still get MAXIMUM LEO all week, so that’s a bonus!

Sincere congratulations on the milestone, Leo.

And thanks for everything.

@leo Congratulations on your retirement from radio! It has been a pleasure listening to (and watching) The Tech Guy weekend shows over the years.

Wishing you continued success with the TWiT network and thanks for bringing this particular tech community together.

@leo I worked at an AM/FM/TV station in the '70's as a control room operator while in high school, and then as a technician during the summers I was in university. It was one of the best jobs I've ever had. I have countless stories about the creative and crazy people who worked there. I loved WKRP in Cincinnati as it was so similar to what I experienced.
@leo you’ve always had a positive impact on my tech life, Leo! I used to race home everyday to watch Tech TV!
@leo that’s quite a track record, congrats! Thanks for all the great work you do. You’re one of the reasons I got into technology and IT work.
@leo I'm glad you get to retire Leo. I'm gladder you're continuing with a podcast. I'm been an avid listener for quite a few years.
@leo Netcasts killed the radio star
@leo radio people unite! you will always be a radio guy to me, Leo.
@leo Thank you Leo! Started listening to you and Gina way back in the day. Catch you on the podcast!
@leo wow that’s huge. Congrats. You lasted much longer than most.

@leo

I listened on the radio, then watched your show for so many years. It is a huge loss, but so glad about the podcast, etc. Thanks for not retiring!

@leo Sad emoji. Out with the old, in with the new old :)
@leo Thank you Leo for all the knowledge and entertainment!
@leo it’s been a great ride Leo, I’ve been with you all these years Thanks
@leo Congrats on a fantastic career! Now please don’t retire from TWIT anytime soon!!!
@leo Congrats and thank you for everything!!
@leo That’s great to hear!
@leo congrats to an amazing broadcast run on radio! 🥂🎉 and to many more years of netcasing!
@leo I grew up on talk radio and still love it. There is no doubt that you will be in the Radio Hall of Fame. Thanks for all the years of advice and comfort through your calm and soothing demeanor.
@leo Great Final Show Leo. I remember the chat room from "Laporte on Computers" on KGO Radio. 1992? KGO's nigh time signal made it up and down the Pacific NW.
@leo Thank you Leo for all the years of teaching and entertaining us all these years. Happy you’ll still continue your podcasts.
@leo You will be missed from the (old school) air waves. I remember listening to your show on KGO when I was a kid growing up on the rural Oregon coast. Given my early interest in computers and my career path in tech, I think your show had some influence. Thanks Leo!
@leo I moved to the US in the late 90s and almost immediately discovered you and #katebotello presenting The Screensavers on #ZDTV. I’ve enjoyed watching/listening to your shows ever since. You were an inspiration in my time as a Public Radio broadcaster in CO.
After moving back to the UK I found #iOSToday with you and @mikahsargent and still watch you guys via YouTube.
Thanks for all those shows and good luck with your next chapter.
@leo
Just curious -- why did you leave your radio show?
@leo -- go get em Dr Twit! :-)
@leo It was a great weekend, look forward to what your Sunday Ask the Tech Guys show will become.
@leo Congrats! I’ve been watching/listening for years and will continue to do so.
