Twitter tracking to become the largest-ever alt-platform, governed by the Twitter Blue DAO, which will in no way devolve rapidly into paranoia and will attract much top talent.
I feel like there were subsequently some changes to that policy…
@Noupside weird some rando dude in Malaysia be so interested in “The Founding Fathers” —of the United States
@irregulara @Noupside The founding fathers founded such a great democracy that everything in it can be reinterpreted to exclude people and be authoritarian. Cool!
@irregulara @Noupside

Hi American friends. The next time IMC injects himself into American politics, I suggest you all just flood his replies with, "Kau diam. You dok kat Ipoh je kut." Word for word.

@Noupside malaysian dude has thoughts on founding fathers
@AriCohn he didn’t read the rest of the chapter
@Noupside @AriCohn I hope Elon keeps trying to get advice from this guy because he's dumb as hell
@AriCohn @Noupside

@Noupside I have 14 and 19 thoughts on this topic.
@Noupside tell me more about this Mr. Sherman
@Noupside Defining common people as the mob. 🤨
@Noupside it only just occurred to me that when he tweeted “there will be a vote before any major policy decision” he meant a Twitter poll, not a vote of the (nonexistent) board or exec team.
@Noupside "a good thing because back in the day only rich white men could vote" is exactly the kind of take I expected from Elon's Dickriding Club.
@Noupside the fantasy worlds these folx live in would be mind-blowing if it weren’t so predictable…also, as a Black woman reading any justification to the “founding fathers” and voting is a clear message that me and mine are NOT to be included, given Black folx relationship with both just in the U.S.
@Noupside I had no idea the Founding Fathers wrote about Twitter Blue, fascinating
@Noupside is he even allowed in this country lol
@Noupside I’m just waiting for the suggestion that non-bluecheck subscribers should be allowed to vote, but only count as three-fifths of a vote. Twitter is learning about democracy the way that crytpo is going through learning about finance security.
@Noupside Voting rights ….. Only landowners can vote….. White Landowners…Not Chattel… women, slaves, non-white merchants, etc…… Perhaps the Founding Fathers were a bit behind the times…
@Noupside It’s always “funny” that their ultimate goal is to make America like it was before other people that didn’t look like them had rights.
“Remember before women could vote and slavery was a thing? Yeah, let’s do that again. That sounds great!” —It’s genuinely akin to that if not that directly most of of time.
@Noupside These weirdos aren’t even hiding their anti-democratic worldview. It’s rubes shilling for plutocrats.
@Noupside Have these people never read a book? Ai yi yi.
@Noupside "The mob" in both cases is poor people. Democracy must not include poor people. The central tenet of their ideology.

@Noupside

Also, Ian Miles Cheong is a has-been troll who is from, and continues to live in, Malaysia.

"Founding Fathers"? The dude's always been a foreigner trying to make himself relevant in American politics.

@Noupside that deserves being reported for misogyny and racism, if he wants to lean on what the founding fathers would have wanted.
@Noupside not to mention people of Asian decent have become targets for hate crimes because of the hate speech that’s been allowed on Twitter, and sadly, that hate speech was present before Musk. He just welcomed it.
@Noupside oh wow. Just wow. 😳
@Noupside So a Malaysian guy is telling a South African what the American founders wanted. Cool. Coolcoolcoolcoolcool. That joint is going to be useless in less than six months.
@Noupside A couple of days ago I was wondering if Twitter was going to go full Animal Farm. Jury's still out, but not looking promising.
@Noupside but who will decide which non-citizens are worth 2/3 of a vote. and who gets to vote for them?
@Noupside omg he’s so easily manipulated
@emmalbriant @Noupside Indeed. So effectively cultivated. We’ve seen this playbook before, but the tactics and impacts are so clear in this case. It’s wild.
@katestarbird @Noupside yes you really don’t expect to see such blatant manipulation of a powerful figure (and indeed huge media corporation) going on so publicly though… this is the stuff that once might have happened in elite networking events or private meetings
@katestarbird @Noupside I don’t know why it bothers me so much that it’s so blatant and public. I guess it feels like a barrier is gone. It’s like when Trump asked the Russians to put out more Clinton hacks on TV.
@Noupside They reinvented the idea that only land owners should get to vote but for people who paid $8 for Twitter.
@Noupside … wow true lost boys energy
@Noupside @marcelias anybody should expect to get banned.
@Noupside if they actually implement that policy, it will quickly reveal a lot about how many (or few) people are subscribed to Twitter Blue
@Noupside So the poll Musk ran on Musk’s own platform was fixed so that Musk would quit? 🤣🤣🤣. Here’s my question why run a poll asking whether you should quit or not if you don’t want to quit? If you want to run a poll just to see if people like the job you’re doing, you run a poll asking how they like the job you’ve been doing.
@Noupside also, those that dislike musk want him to stay so that he can continue to quickly dismantle Twitter as opposed to a slow boil.
@Noupside gerrymandering Twitter votes is really something
@Noupside oh yes, notes on being a "deep state enemy" from the guy whose business is the preferred destination for ransomware threat actors to exfiltrate stolen data from victim organizations before they engage in blackmail. I guess it takes a villain to know a villain
@Noupside
Someone bring me a wooden stake.
@Noupside Good thing that of all the entities in the world, governments are the least likely to have money to toss at that crap. I mean, if you spend billions on all those analysts, surely you can’t also spend a fraction of their hourly staff cost on buying blue checks.
@Noupside they’re going to pay a billionaire $8 a month to vote in his phony polls and then think they have “skin in the game”. Ok then.
@Noupside how are blue check mark accounts not NFTs yet?

@Noupside Blue on Twitter = paid user, voting rights = only if you're blue. That's a poll tax.

Not hard to see where Twitter is headed.

@Noupside I wish I could stand back and appreciate the downfall of the network but I know people actually depend on it for income and the “public square” function is still not replicated anywhere else. As it is, it’s a bit like watching a neighbor’s house burn in a fire that got a bit too out of control for the firefighters to do anything about: difficult to look away.
@Noupside I thought a DAO was decentralized, not with a dictator-for-life?
