TIL that in 1981 Diane Feinstein reinstated a Confederate flag in the Civic Center as part of a display of 'historical' flags.

The Confederate flag had initially been removed from this display by protesters and civil rights activists back in the late 60s, when it was first erected.

In 1984, a Black man named Richard Bradley climbed the pole and ripped down the Stars & Bars. He was *promptly* arrested and Mayor Diane Feinstein put the Confederate flag back up!

Luckily, a scrappy group of protesters just pulled down the whole flag pole.

I know there are lots of high points in her legacy but dang. To go to the mat for the Confederate flag??? WTF.
