The extraordinary thing about the #JohnMastodon vs Elmo Musk thing is that it's naturally occurring #gnostic #mythology. Musk is exactly the egoist demiurge who claims to be the creator but creates nothing, while #JohnMastodon is Abraxas; no two accounts can agree on their details, they are contradictory and multiple, they cannot be reduced to a single instance.
#PKD and #CarlJung would have been peeing their pants if they could have watched this occurring in real time.
It's also notable that while #JohnMastodon has over the last few days been identified with '#ObiWanKenobi, #TomBombadil and #JesusChrist, amongst others, I'm not sure that I've seen #JohnMastodon directly connected to #ganesha.
Although in the six hours or so I've been seeing pachyderm imagery almost as often as the wholesome guy with a beard interpretations.
Of course, as well as the irruptions of the divine in the Fediverse strata, #JohnMastodon represents a return of the multi-user persona, in the tradition of #NedLudd, #JerryCornelius, #LutherBlissett and others.
Significantly, the bird site has increasingly become fixated by the authority of the Blue Tick to indicate fixity of identity. The alternative is fluidity, which was a key aspect of the game of masques that was the 20th Century iteration of teh interwebs.
It's also interesting to note that while Elmo Musk intended to become Teh King of Memes merely through injecting multiple billions into a dead parrot site, his nemesis has emerged spontaneously, accidentally, and most crucially without the aid or hindrance of an algorithm.
#JohnMastodon was begotten not made, birthed through a typographical misreading from one of the opposing faction. Life breathed into the mythos by the enthusiasm of the disenfranchised.
The real stuff.
But who is writing The Gospel of #JohnMastodon? We all are. And there is none of the historical or personal distance of the synoptic gospels, because we are all of us both the master and the myth.
Whatever you add to this inland ocean, whether orthodox or otherwise, its contradictions merely provide food for the blossoming hothouse of this moment.
So many of the #JohnMastodon stories I have read have been wholesome and beautiful. Moar of that please!
