I moved a lot when I was a kid. From birth to 18YO: Wichita, Royal Oak, Iowa City, Ft. Lauderdale, Stone Mountain, Decatur GA, Hardy AR, Jacksonville AR, back to Iowa City. And about the same, maybe more, as an adult. Point is, I know from starting over. So, here I am.

@tomtomorrow I lived in one house for 18 years, spent 4 years of college moving from apartment to apartment as one does, moved here and lived in an apartment, a rent house for a few years, and bought this house 25 years ago.

Point being... I dislike being uprooted. Except I like trying out new tech toys. So ambivalence. Except about staying in Muskland. Just... no.

@tomtomorrow Hi 👋 Good to see you 😁
@tomtomorrow Looking forward to seeing more of you here.
@tomtomorrow When were you in Iowa City?
@tomtomorrow Immediately made me think of this quote: "When I was a kid my parents moved a lot, but I always found them." ― Rodney Dangerfield
@tomtomorrow Hello fellow Tooter! Hardy & Jacksonville caught my eye; I'm from Weiner. 😀 My family has a cabin in Hardy.
@tomtomorrow good to see you here! One less on my sad to leave behind account list.
@tomtomorrow We moved about that many times before I started kindergarten - thanks to the US Air Force. Got to see a bit of Europe by the time I was 18, too.
@tomtomorrow We were practically neighbors! (Newnan, GA here, and we’ve lived in our house for 42 years.)
@tomtomorrow same. Twelve schools before I graduated from high school. CO, MD, MN, MDx4, NY, CO, VA, CO. A change’ll do you good.
@tomtomorrow You have me beat by one. Mostly because I had a parent who worked for IBM.

@tomtomorrow

Welcome! I'm actually slightly jealous; I've lived my entire life within 20 miles of where I was born. I often wonder what it would be like to live somewhere that wasn't ... here.

@tomtomorrow Every time I moved I figured I'd do it "right" this time. It gave me the opportunity to figure out early how much of the shit I encountered in the world was actually stuff I was carrying around with me. Which is interesting to me now because I'm constantly running into adults who are convinced that all their trials are the fault of others.
@tomtomorrow Thank god you're actually here, you've never shared the address on the hellsite

@tomtomorrow
I left the "other site" by ghosting it, at least I think I did.

Happy to learn you're joining the, uh, party(?). I always enjoy your takes and your artwork.

Cheers!

@tomtomorrow Welcome! The last few days have felt livelier over here. Hope your followers reassemble quickly. Happy solstice.
@tomtomorrow For me it was 8 different schools in 12 years. The cities were Miami, then in NC: Cherokee, Cullowhee (3 different places), Dillsboro, Boone, Asheville; then NJ: Parsippany, Boonton, couch surfing for several months, East Rutherford and 2 towns I can’t remember the names of. Back to Cullowhee for College. I wish I could say we settled down after that, but since then I’ve lived in 13 different places over the past 32 years.
@tomtomorrow
"So, here I am."
Spoken like a true Atreides.
@tomtomorrow Interesting. I'd be interested in hearing a sample of your spoken voice in order to try to reconcile the dialect or accent with that history.
