Found this article on the history: "The Springs became a sacred place, and no horseman was allowed to ride within a mile of the steaming waters. Found this cool profile of the owners, a fun couple of realtors from El Paso who have been renovating the place since 2019. When they bought it, it still had remnants of its time as a *women's prison*! “When I bought (the building), it still had the prison doors in each room,” Juan said.

That's stunning! I live in a 1955 ranch, have for decades. I bought it for the yard, and I have warmed to the MCM style. It lives so comfortably, and I slowly began to see what seemed stark and charmless as spare and flowing.
