In that case the argument that non-public data was required to track its flight (in this case, at least) is just patently untrue?

It's been pointed out that I did misread, but in the funnier direction. It wasn't using a PIA hex code (you can look up N628TS on https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/Search/NNumberInquiry), so literally no identity obfuscation.

Do it! It's easy to set up and you can get a surprising amount of coverage with even a shit antenna -- and even better with a $75 investment or so!
