Hard to believe, but every airline has a malicious service known as "Flight Status" that provides coordinates to assassins.

@scottjshapiro

I am lobbying my congressman to rename those "Current Assassination Coordinates" for full transparency.

Similarly, "Find My Friends" should be renamed "Find My Targets".

@scottjshapiro My next flight is UA 4560, next Thursday. Do whatever you want with that information, and watch how much I whine about it (spoiler alert: none).

@scottjshapiro

one thing to note is that absolutely no one suggested Musk gives up his private plane and flies commercial - like 99.9% of all other humans if he's so worried.

I wonder why

@szbalint
Because nobody wants to have to sit next to him.
@scottjshapiro
@scottjshapiro Suddenly, checking flight status to pick up my grandma at the airport takes on a whole new meaning

@scottjshapiro

I believe musk is using @elonjet to block links from Twitter to nearly all instances of mastodon because the flight information from that one account will be mirrored across most mastodon instances. (Musk has also banned links to the location information.)

Keith Kerr 🇺🇸🇪🇺🇮🇪🇺🇦 (@[email protected])

Musk's trick: Is it about safety, or blocking a competitor? Every mastodon instance w/a user following @[email protected] has a mirror copy of that feed at a URL. For me at techhub.social the URL is: https://techhub.social/@[email protected] If you are not logged in, that redirects to: https://mastodon.social/@elonjet Thus, the "assassination threat" gives Elon an excuse to block almost every mastodon instance since every mastodon instance likely had a user following ElonJet. @[email protected] @[email protected]

@scottjshapiro I bet if you rush towards the cockpit and bang on the doors and shout at them to turn the transponders off...

Well, something interesting would happen, certainly.

Every time I check flightradar24.com

@scottjshapiro intense lobbying by the international assassins organization really paid off
@scottjshapiro Looks like @elonjet is a good example of "lawful but awful". Elon's absolutism-fail is always hilarious. But people failing to see @elonjet's awfulness is also really weird.
@shaileshb @scottjshapiro @elonjet is it awful so much as it “inconvenient for the sufficiently paranoid”
@duckswithpants @scottjshapiro @elonjet Singling out someone and following them with a spotlight is awful. Paranoid.. I don't know. I don't want to spell out the possibilities.
@scottjshapiro Musk should just buy several private jets and have them fly out of the same airport to different locations if really wants to burn money and maintain some privacy.

@tallpike40 @scottjshapiro Or established an aircraft owner trust at the Bank of Utah, like thousands of other wealthy jet owners have done.

@scottjshapiro Yep, and even an Estimated Time of Assassination.
@scottjshapiro God forbid that Musk finds out about flightradar #paranoid, #pretentiousmuskrat

@scottjshapiro That's why the gods among us fly in private jets. That and the extra legroom.
