Coffee drinkers! Listen! Starbucks workers nationwide are starting a 3-day strike today (Friday 12/16) as part of their effort to unionize.

How can you help? Don't cross the picket line. Get your coffee elsewhere. (Preferably at independent coffee shops. Long live small biz).

And spread the word! Make this message viral. Let's hold billionaire corps accountable because worker's rights are human rights. Let's go.

@QasimRashid oh thanks for the reminder!
@QasimRashid @stefan I just decided to delete my app for three days
@QasimRashid For extra credit, never buy from (at least non-unionized) Starbucks again.
@Ateriath @QasimRashid Independent coffee houses are so much better! I haven't been to Starbucks in well over 10 years
@Ateriath @QasimRashid How can my mom know if her Starbucks is union?
@666k9s @QasimRashid Search “starbucks [your town] unionized” and we what pops up probably.
@QasimRashid Their coffee is horrible anyway🤮🤮🤮
@BlechelJ @QasimRashid Agreed. Their coffee always tastes burnt.
@BlechelJ @QasimRashid it is right? it's overpriced and terrible
@QasimRashid No worries. I’m a Dunkies fan anyway. Twice the size and half the cost, and no attitude
@BillBoston @QasimRashid the coffee is really underrated and the price is *chef’s kiss*
@BillBoston @QasimRashid i think McDonald’s coffee is better than dunkies. Bolder taste.
@graciegato @QasimRashid I don’t disagree, but in Boston there are more Dunkin’s than say, churches. Not suggesting that’s a bad thing. Anyway I mostly drink it for its “medicinal value” and I’m shockingly easy to please
@QasimRashid I’m ordering iced tea and hot tea and organic coffee to make at home
@QasimRashid is this in the US only?
@QasimRashid went to Dunkin instead. Not crossing a picket line. I support those who want a union to protect themselves from being slave labor.
@QasimRashid
I would love to say that I don't get coffee at Starbucks because I don't want to support their anti-union awfulness, but the truth is that I don't buy anything from Starbucks because I don't want diabetes.
@tofugolem @QasimRashid a valid concern there, for sure 😂
@tofugolem @QasimRashid or coffee more bitter than sin lol
@QasimRashid thank you for posting. If I crossed a picket line my ancestors would haunt me for the rest of my days!
@QasimRashid guess I gotta be the schmuck to point out 'striking' in an "at will" state when you're not union will usually get you fired.
There are better ways to push for higher wages than risking your job, like CONSUMERS doing the boycotting and avoidance. #no2starbucks
@QasimRashid I started boycotting Starbucks about a month ago when I discovered how they have been treating their employees, especially the unionized ones. Also, their iced tea, while very good, is now nearly $5.00 and that's just too damn much when I can make it at home for very little cost.
@QasimRashid agree please support your independent coffeeshops. They put great care in the coffee they serve and the communities they build.
@QasimRashid Support your local coffee house. We have a GREAT one in my town.
@QasimRashid Honestly folks, it’s not hard to boycott the worst coffee in the universe.
@QasimRashid any links? I'd like to share this on other social media.

@QasimRashid

do they sell coffee?? wow!! Ionly had it once in my lifetime and tasted of pond or mud.... LOL!!

@QasimRashid I can’t even remember the last time I bought coffee there. No thanks.
@QasimRashid I don’t buy anything from Starbucks, we have a great little coffee shop in my “village.”
@QasimRashid
Long live Peet's!! Been around longer than Starbuck's!!
@agriff82420 @QasimRashid Gotta admit, I do like Peet's. Their Havana Cappuccino - yum!
@QasimRashid Solidarity to the workers!
@QasimRashid I make my coffee at home, and if'n I buy coffee out, I hit St Louis Bread Co (Panera to you heathens 😆 ) because their Sip Club makes coffee nearly free.
@QasimRashid I make my own coffee. Cheaper and better taste.
@QasimRashid Been boycotting them since they took over the Coffee Connection. That was 27 years ago. Sill mad about it.
@QasimRashid re: the Starbucks strike -
For some insight into the coffee trade consider reading Dave Eggers little book - The Monk of Mokha - about growing coffee in its birthplace, war-torn Yemen. Or go whole hog and dive into The Coffee Guide, 4th Edition - https://intracen.org/media/file/5718
And bless the pickers, it is damn hard work. #coffee
@QasimRashid exactly where I’m sitting right now. Sipping excellent coffee made by friends & neighbours, and no franchise anxiety. Sweet.
@QasimRashid
I think especially for Multi-Nation languages, we should make a habit of stating where we are talking about...
@QasimRashid it’s times like these I kind of wish I went to Starbucks so I could *not* go to Starbucks in solidarity, but I’ve been anti SB for a long time.
@QasimRashid shoutout the workers!!! Strikes are important for the public display and visualization of the mistreatment of workers everywhere!
@QasimRashid my sibling just got hired to a Starbucks so I doubt either of us will rock the boat locally, but I don't drink their coffee anyway, we have Stone Creek coffee where I live in WI and it's expensive but absolutely beautiful coffee. I do 100% support the total unionization of the whole enterprise, and I applaud those taking that difficult stance
@QasimRashid I wasn't aware of this. I can get my caffeine fix somewhere else for a few days. :)
@QasimRashid. I support their effort to unionize, but I really do not understand why anyone goes to those shit holes to begin with.
@QasimRashid
For those in the A2(MI) or those wishing to order online…
I highly recommend an independent coffee shop…

They do all their roasting on premises.
For a true “A2 Hippie experience”…

@QasimRashid I wish more local coffee shops had better coffee most the char is too much, it’s bitter, or too weak, too strong. It’s really difficult to find quality local shops.
@QasimRashid ty! I was going to pick up a gift card for a holiday gift but I’ll wait!

@QasimRashid

Well shit, I got a drink this morning. I had no idea. :(

@QasimRashid Aren’t most independent coffee shops non union?
@QasimRashid Damn, it would have to happen during Cranberry Bliss Bar/Birthday period. The only time I actually go to Starbucks. I will have to pull out my baking supplies again!
@QasimRashid hold strong people. Starbucks has really shown their true colors lately. They care nothing about the partners.
