Self-proclaimed free speech champ #ElonMusk is now banning the #Twitter accounts of the journalists who covered him. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/elon-musk-twitter-journalists-banned-1234648351/
Elon ‘Free Speech’ Musk Un-Suspends Accounts of Journalists Who Criticized Him

Twitter has reinstated the accounts of prominent journalists who had been critical of Elon Musk, who paints himself as a champion of free speech.

Rolling Stone
@RollingStone he just shut down Keith Olbermann, who was covering the suspensions and calling him out for fascistic behavior.
@RollingStone When are the rest of the people on Twitter going to wake up and leave that hell site?
Enough is enough!
@RollingStone lets listen to what the bootlickers are going to say now.

@RollingStone I sorta understand banning @elonjet even though he said he wouldn't. He just found out in a very public fashion, that he's not well liked.

But still, @elonjet seems like a form of stalking.

But I look forward his release of the internal deliberations that led to these other bans. Surely #Elon will do that in the interest of transparency....

Heh, like I really believe that.

@AbsurdWeasel @RollingStone but it’s publically available data.

@richtong @RollingStone Yeah, it is public. Like mugshots, arrest records, property records and all the other shit people use to doxx each other.

I don't want to be on that side of the equation.

@RollingStone Why is any legitimate journalist still on #twitter? Why are government officials and agencies still on twitter, if the man-baby will shut them down if he doesn't like them?
@Mxhrad @RollingStone Mudge testified this year that they have absolutely no way of deleting your data when you delete your account. They couldn't delete your data even if they wanted to because they don't even know where it's stored. Deleting your account does nothing. Gov accounts are probably just keeping tabs at this point.
@CaffeinatedInfoSec @RollingStone Deleting your account makes one less user and less money for Musk.
@Mxhrad @RollingStone Twitter makes money from ads. Not using the account is just as effective as deleting it

@CaffeinatedInfoSec @RollingStone

Advertizers look at number of accounts also. People deleting their accounts in droves will keep advertizers from paying more money to Musk.

@RollingStone He banned Olbermann? Is he on here?
@RollingStone And of large account holders like me, who clicked on any of them—From here on Mastodon I was taking a closer look at the Olberman tweet that supposedly got him suspended—and up popped my Twitter and told me I was suspended. I had/have 88,500 followers, down from 92,000 before Elon.
@Lee_in_Iowa @RollingStone Twitter suspended you? Unbelievable! I was one of your followers there, and never saw anything suspension-worthy.
@Lee_in_Iowa Wondering if these picture links to suspended tweets are planted here on purpose to catch liberals in the Twitter massacre suspension net.
@RollingStone what are their Mastodon addresses so I can follow them?
@RollingStone because, you know, free speech
@RollingStone Twitter is falling fast. If they kick the journalists off, most will have no reason to be there.
@RollingStone I'm fully imagining the staff at Twitter hovering around Musk, subtly goading him to ban yet another account like John Cleese offering 'one more wafer-thin mint' to see if this is the straw before the whole thing explodes.

@RollingStone

#ElonMusk has not only banned @/joinmastodon or several journalist's account, he has also banned every tweet related to the mastodon.

I tried a tweet that linked my #Mastodon account, and it was immediately blocked (unable to send the tweet).

@RollingStone He is also banning accounts that track planes including companies that provide the ability to track. Started when someone started tracking his plane. He can pay to remove his identification off, instead he’s tossing accounts. I also track planes. See my post https://lyndathompsonresearch.net.

@Lynda_Katerra @RollingStone so sorry to hear that. So basically the rule is Twitter is whatever Elon wants. Wow. Will be interesting to see if the “masses” care at all...
@RollingStone It's not just journalists, it's anyone that stands up to #ElonMusk
@RollingStone He’s banning journalists period
@RollingStone imagine being opposed to the guy who platforms your mouthpiece Matt Taibbi.
@RollingStone he suffers from Fragile Ego syndrome.
@RollingStone ☝️”However, about three minutes into the discussion, Musk abruptly left the conversation after Notopoulos challenged his rationale for banning journalists and Harrell pointed out Musk was using the same link blocking techniques he critiqued in the Hunter Biden controversy in 2020. A short while later, the Space cut out and everyone in the chat was booted off.”

@RollingStone And he turned off Twitter Spaces after joining a twitter space where there were "banned accounts" (The app let some banned accounts join and talk on a twitter space) just to flee the conversation when someone asked him if when he doxxed someone if it's just as bad as someone doxxing him

Completely flustered he quit the call, pulled the plug on the space and then had an update to turn off twitter spaces pushed. HENCE why people can't like posts right now until they update their app

Hey Lorena thanks for the follow and share! :)
@lblas
@callmejake You're welcome! Happy to share what people need to know!

@RollingStone

Don't judge him by what he says he is. Words are cheap. Actions matter, right?

Judge him by what he shows you he's doing.
Who is he reinstating?
Who is he banning?
Who are his people that he makes happy?
Who is he driving away?

Just think about it.
