Heh. To everyone responding to this telling me it's about the Streisand Effect... yes, I know.
The reason I'm "not sure what to make of it" is because I came up with the term "The Streisand Effect" and feel weird seeing Elon use it in this manner....
@mmasnick I was thinking your thread was the funniest thing I've seen tonight 😅
Edit, how do you feel about me bookmarking this post when I need to give an example of what mansplaining is? (not you, them) 😅

@mmasnick I was just telling this story to my brother! But I got the origin of the phrase wrong because my drug-addled memory told me it came from the "Mecha-Streisand" South Park episode.
Good times.
He really is working hard on pointing out hes not mad while hes on a rampage like a toddler on a sugar bender.
It's almost certainly a reference to the Streisand effect, right?
He's alluding to an idea that the controversy will make Twitter more popular. I don't agree really. But that's how I read it.
He's so weird.
@mmasnick it wouldn't be the first thing he got wrong today.
Or even this hour.
@mmasnick Streisand Effect? I think he's basically saying negative publicity is still publicity.
Can't argue with the axiom but I do think it has a shelf life (Trump).
This might explain it.
