Iran's attorney-general says that both parliament and judiciary are reviewing the law that has forced women to cover their heads since 1983.
Although both bodies are conservative, this may indicate an attempt at flexibility in response to protests that have grown since the death of Mahsa Amini.
Meanwhile estimates of numbers of people killed during protests range from 200 to 469.

Iranian Attorney-General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri has announced that the morality police force has been abolished.
The force, introduced under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2006, was responsible for the arrest of Mahsa Amini and (according to her family though denied by the regime) the beating which led to her death on 16 September.

Ali Alghasi-Mehr, the judiciary chief for Tehran province, said: "One hundred and sixty people were sentenced to between five and 10 years in prison, 80 people to two to five years and 160 people to up to two years."
Amnesty International believes 20 people are at risk of execution, in addition to two men already hanged.
Taraneh Alidoosti has won multiple awards, including for starring in Asghar Farhadi's Oscar-winning 2016 film "The Salesman".
Her last Instagram post, referring to the execution on 8 December, said: "His name was Mohsen Shekari. Every international organization who is watching this bloodshed and not taking action, is a disgrace to humanity."
She has also written: "I’ve inherited this courage from the women of my land, who for years have been living their lives, every day with resistance … I will stay, I will not quit, I will stand with the families of the prisoners and murdered and demand their rights. I will fight for my home, I will pay whatever it takes to stand up for my rights, and most importantly: I believe in what we are building together today."

Iran hanged two men on Saturday for allegedly killing a member of the security forces during nationwide protests that followed the death of 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian woman Mahsa Amini on Sept. 16, drawing condemnation from the EU, the United States and other Western nations.
"Footage posted on social media showed the mother of one of the men, 22-year-old Mohammad Ghobadlou, pleading for her son outside Rajaei-Shahr prison in Karaj … west of Tehran. She said it had been established that her son had not been at the scene when the police officer died.
