@auschwitzmuseum @histodons @museum I don't think it ever really sunk in that while the Nazis were rounding up ethnics they were creating housing for Germans. We rightfully note the horrors of encampment, but we forget the back fill into the vacated dwellings of German families who were likely believing their government was taking positive steps to ensure their housing. If I were a member of a rehomed family and I learned the truth, would I feel guilt or entitlement? Soul searching indeed.
